We are looking for a passionate, kingdom-focused teacher to join our early childhood team in achieving goals focused on eternity, excellence, and community.

Position Purpose / Description: The teacher contributes to the fulfillment of the Academy’s Ends and Mission as the primary agent involved in the schooling experience of AAI students.  As a professional educator and committee Christian minister, the teacher impacts the intellectual, social, and spiritual development of students.  Through interaction with parents, the teacher also has the opportunity to serve and minister professionally, and spiritually. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

Primary Teacher Responsibilities

  1. Effectively teach the kindergarten curriculum.  
  2. Integrate a biblical worldview and Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  3. Reflect the purpose of the school.
  4. Act as a positive role model for students.
  5. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.
  6. Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  7. Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered room.
  8. Plan and prepare throughout the year for effective instruction within the classroom.
  9. Individualize the content when necessary to meet each student's learning needs while maintaining the highest and most appropriate learning expectations of all students at all times.
  10. Effectively manage each group of students while providing for a variety of learning styles, ability levels, and educational/linguistic backgrounds.
  11. Plan through approved channels the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.
  12. Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, or project work.
  13. Employ technology as appropriate to enhance instruction.
  14. Continually and accurately assess and monitor student progress and make appropriate modifications of goals and strategies to meet students' needs
  15. Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student progress, attendance, and classroom supplies and materials.
  16. Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure.
  17. Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public.
  18. Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff, by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
  19. Be available to parents and students during and outside of school hours.
  20. Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
  21. Interact cooperatively with other staff members in the development of cohesive curriculum materials and the establishment of instructional goals.
  22. Attend and participate in student chapel, in-service, open house, committee, department, and faculty meetings.
  23. Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
  24. Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
  25. Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.

Supplemental Teacher Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise extra-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
  2. Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
  3. Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
  4. Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities when possible.
  5. Perform any other duties, which may be assigned by the administration.


Requirements

Minimum educational background/degree: BA/BS in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and current US teacher certification or ability to obtain certification. 

Minimum job-related experience: Student teaching and/or at least one year of full-time classroom teaching

English and or Spanish proficiency level: Native English proficiency (C1) required
