Job Description

Job Title:                     Kindergarten Elementary Teacher

Supervisor’s Title:       Mrs. Johnson, Principal

Classification:             Salaried (to be discussed and finalized at interview)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Kindergarten teacher’s responsibility is to progress students forward in the following areas:

  • Spiritual relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Academically challenge the class to excel beyond the scope and sequence outlined in the curriculum by creating individualized opportunities that stretches the child’s learning abilities.
  • Socially by allowing students to work in collaborative group settings on major projects and daily classwork.
  • Physically by incorporating activities that build a healthy mindset and encourage physical health, always reminding children that their body is God’s temple.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

The Employee will:

Participate in the following functions:

    1. Staff Orientation Days
    2. Professional Development Training recommended by the Administrator Principal and Vice Principal
    3. Regularly scheduled Staff Meetings
    4. Mandatory Special activities planned by the School Board and Administration including, but not limited to, the following:
  1. All Elementary calendar events for 2022/23
  2. In person Back to School Night
  • After school clubs twice monthly
  1. Back to School Sunday at Plymouth Church
  2. Christmas Program
  3. Mid-Year Portfolio Meetings
  • Graduation Ceremonies (Preschool/Elementary)
  • End of the Year Debriefing Day(s)
  1. Any other school event(s) pertaining to the teacher’s specific class
  2. The School Board and Administration may from time to time designate other special activities that may require attendance

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, education and/or abilities required for the job.

SPIRITUAL STANDARDS:

  • Have accepted Jesus Christ.
  • Be able to teach God’s Word the Bible and lead a student and/or parent to Jesus Christ.

ABILITY TO:

  • Love children God’s way
  • Teach curriculum set forth for your grade level.
  • Teach via media if Distance Learning suddenly has to be enforced (if applicable).
  • Use Computer Skills to complete Lesson Plans and Weekly Newsletters.
  • Ability to educate children using a Biblical view point.
  • Communicate with Administration, parents and students.  Carry out the assignment given in a Christ-like and timely manner.  Meet deadlines given by the Administration.  Complete any additional task assigned by the School Board and Administration. 
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized and orderly classroom ensuring that every child is afforded the opportunity to learn each day in a clean space and with very minimal distractions.

SELECTION GUIDELINES

The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combinations of the level of Christian maturity, education, work experience and training:

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience teaching in a classroom setting with elementary age students for a minimum of one year.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

  • In addition to college degrees that you hold, be willing to obtain an ACSI Educators Certificate and attend any Professional Development outlined for you by your Administrator. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The essential functions of this job require the employee to perform the following physical activities during the course of work:

  • Standing for periods up to 60 minutes, light basic exercises, light lifting up to 10lbs., walking up to 1 mile on occasion.
  • Mental stability to be able to carry out tasks while working with school age children.
