Overview
The Assistant Head of School for Institutional Advancement serves as a key member of the school’s executive leadership team, responsible for advancing the mission and vision of Lake Norman Christian School through strategic leadership in development, communications, marketing, and community engagement. This role strengthens and expands the school’s visibility, philanthropic support, and long-term sustainability in alignment with LKNC’s Christ-centered mission.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Advancement Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive institutional advancement plan encompassing fundraising, alumni relations, marketing, and community partnerships.
Collaborate with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to align advancement goals with the school’s strategic plan.
Lead and mentor staff and volunteers engaged in development and communication initiatives.
2. Fundraising & Development
Oversee all aspects of fundraising, including annual giving, capital campaigns, major gifts, grants, and planned giving.
Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
Manage donor databases and ensure timely acknowledgment, reporting, and recognition.
Coordinate fundraising events and initiatives that promote community engagement and school spirit.
3. Marketing & Communications
Develop and implement a cohesive marketing and communications strategy to enhance the school’s brand and enrollment growth.
Supervise the creation of digital and print materials, including newsletters, social media, website content, and press releases.
Serve as a key spokesperson for LKNC, maintaining consistent and mission-aligned messaging across all channels.
4. Community & Alumni Relations
Foster strong relationships with parents, alumni, churches, and local organizations to strengthen community ties.
Establish a dynamic alumni network to enhance engagement, mentoring, and giving.
Represent the school at community events, conferences, and partnership opportunities.
5. Strategic Leadership
Participate as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to school-wide decision-making and vision-setting.
Collaborate with the Head of School on board relations, including reporting and presenting advancement metrics.
Support initiatives that enhance the overall mission, culture, and sustainability of LKNC.
Requirements
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (in education, nonprofit management, business, or related field).
-Minimum 5 years of experience in advancement, development, marketing, or related leadership roles, preferably in a Christian or independent school setting.
-Proven record of successful fundraising, donor cultivation, and community engagement.
-Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
-Proficiency in CRM systems, digital marketing tools, and donor database management.
-Personal commitment to the Christian faith and to living out biblical principles in professional and personal life.
