Description
The Athletic Director of Immanuel Christian School oversees all aspects of the school athletic program, developing and maintaining an athletic program that supports the expected student outcomes of our students academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, and representing the school and Christ in the community through sports.
Position Type: Full-time, 12-month contract, salaried; Persons willing to make long-term commitments of three to five years are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
Serve on the school Administrative Team to review, clarify, and develop school policy.
Serve on the school Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team to develop ICS school culture and discipline policies and to determine placement of students referred to tier 2 and tier 3
Assist the Administrative Team in developing the school calendar and approving all athletic events in coordination with IBC church staff
Work closely with the Administrative Team in the development of the school’s strategic plan and Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP)
Assist the Head of School in developing the school budget and policies
Attend Warrior Board Meetings as requested by the Head of School
Attend extracurricular school programs and serve as an administrative presence at home athletic events on a rotating basis with other school administrators
Maintain a visible presence throughout the school. Walk the halls, pop into classrooms occasionally, meet and greet parents and students, etc.
Supervision
Supervise athletic coordinators, all head coaches, student-athletes, and student managers
Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies of athletic governing bodies
Liaison with other athletic directors and organizations to coordinate sporting events and tournaments
Represent Immanuel Christian School among school districts, athletic leagues and organizations, and in the local community
Recruit, train, and manage coaching staff for each sport
Ensure coaches prioritize spiritual, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes during athletic seasons
Provide coaches with all necessary resources for successful implementation of their roles
Formally evaluate assistant and head coaches annually
Financial
Create an annual budget for the athletic department together with the Head of School
Work closely with the ICS Booster Club to raise funds for the athletic department
Maintain accurate and transparent financial records of athletic expenses
Ensure the financial stability of the athletic program through careful planning, spending, and stewardship
Transportation
Oversee the use and maintenance of school vehicles
Maintain vehicle use and maintenance logs
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Head of School
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, master's degree preferred
3 years teaching/coaching experience
Excellent writing and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications
Bilingual (Read/Write in both English and Spanish)
