Are you a passionate, Christ-centered professional called to nurture the social, emotional, and spiritual development of students? North Valley Christian Academy is seeking a Director of Counseling to lead our comprehensive PK–12 health and wellness program.
This vital role involves implementing a developmental health and wellness program that supports students in navigating life's challenges while deepening their faith. You'll have the chance to serve as a Christian role model and integrate biblical principles into all aspects of your work.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Program Leadership: Implementing, evaluating, and revising a robust K–12 counseling curriculum.
Aid Student Services: Facilitating developmentally sequenced classroom activities, and conducting small group and individual interventions on topics ranging from self-concept and study skills to crisis prevention/intervention (e.g., self-injury, substance abuse).
Consultation & Collaboration: Partnering with teachers, staff, and parents through group consultations, parent education programs, and conferences to support student success.
Advocacy & Referral: Maintaining a knowledge of equity and diversity issues to advocate for all students, and making appropriate referrals to trusted community resources (psychologists, agencies, etc.) when critical needs arise.
Problem Resolution: Working with students, parents, and teachers to resolve both personal and academic issues, encouraging better achievement and understanding.
Requirements
Professional Requirements:
Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
Experience in a counseling, student services, or educational setting is highly desirable.
Training in crisis management and ability to conduct threat assessments.
