Dakar Academy seeks a qualified and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our dynamic team of educators. The successful candidate will design and deliver creative, engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with a North American curriculum and integrated with a biblical worldview.

Key Objectives
- Provide high-quality instruction aligned with North American curriculum standards.
- Integrate a Christian worldview naturally and meaningfully into lessons and classroom life.
- Foster an engaging, respectful, and academically rigorous classroom environment.
- Support students’ spiritual and character development through mentorship and discipleship.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and families to ensure student success.
- Design units and assessments using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework.
- Engage in continuous professional growth and contribute to the broader school community.
Primary Responsibilities
Instruction & Classroom Management
- Plan, prepare, and teach daily lessons that promote active, inquiry-based learning.
- Communicate clear learning objectives and behavioral expectations to students.
- Utilize differentiated strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate Christian faith and values into instruction and class discussions.
- Assign and assess homework that reinforces classroom learning.
- Maintain an organized, positive, and safe learning environment.
Assessment & Reporting
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with learning goals.
- Use assessment data to inform and adapt instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance.
Curriculum Development
- Review and update curriculum materials annually in coordination with the curriculum coordinator.
- Develop new content units and courses as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels.
Professional Growth & Collaboration
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and staff devotions.
- Engage in ongoing personal and professional goal-setting and reflection.
- Serve on committees and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Receive and apply constructive feedback to continually improve instructional practice.
Other Duties
- Attend school events and activities as required.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field.
- Valid teaching certification (state or national).
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- ACSI Teacher Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Prior experience teaching in an international or cross-cultural setting.
