We are seeking a passionate and creative lead teacher for a multi-cultural elementary classroom!

Position Purpose / Description: The Elementary Teacher contributes to the fulfillment of the Academy’s Ends and Mission by facilitating AAI’s mission in the lives of our community members. The focus of this position is based on the recognition that the primary means of reaching students for Christ is through investment in the community members that surround and support them. The Elementary Teacher is responsible for growing the entire secondary community by building meaningful relationships for the purpose of leading them closer in their walk with Christ. The Elementary Teacher will be given and assume leadership responsibility and authority in fulfilling AAI’s mission.
Supervision: The teacher reports to and is under the direction and supervision of the Elementary Principal

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Reflect the purpose of the school.
- Act as a positive role model for students.
- Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures.
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered room.
- Plan and prepare throughout the year for effective instruction within the classroom.
- Submit weekly lesson plans
- Effectively teach the curriculum in each of the classes assigned.
- Individualize the content when necessary to meet each student's learning needs while maintaining the highest and most appropriate learning expectations of all students at all times.
- Effectively manage each group of students while providing for a variety of learning styles, ability levels, and educational/linguistic backgrounds.
- Plan through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media.
- Use homework effectively for practice, review, enrichment, or project work.
- Employ technology as appropriate to enhance instruction.
- Continually and accurately assess and monitor student progress and make appropriate modifications of goals and strategies to meet students' needs.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student progress, attendance, and classroom supplies and materials.
- Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure.
- Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff, by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Be available to parents and students during and outside of school hours.
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Interact cooperatively with other staff members in the development of cohesive curriculum materials and the establishment of instructional goals.
- Attend and participate in student chapel, faculty and staff chapels, required training, open house, and committee, department, and faculty meetings.
- Know and be able to implement the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
- Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
- Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
Supplemental Teacher Responsibilities:
- Serve on at least one elementary or school-wide committee during each school year.
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities when possible.
- Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the administration.
Requirements
- Minimum of a BA/BS required.
- US State or ACSI teacher certification, or the ability to obtain certification required.
- One year of teaching experience and/or successful completion of a student teaching experience required.
- Native English proficiency level (C2) required.
