Description
Lafayette Christian School is a broad-based, board-governed Christian School serving the greater LaGrange / Troup County area. Lafayette Christian School strives to educate and inspire this generation to positively impact their culture and their future. We seek to develop each student’s God given spiritual, physical, mental and social gifts to their fullest potential.
Lafayette Christian School has an enrollment of over 600 students across all of our programs. We offer 4 distinct programs that allow us to reach as many as possible. Those programs include a traditional elementary through high school, collaborative program where we partner with home school parents, Discovery Cottage to help students with various learning differences, and a early learning center from birth to K-4.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
- Coordinate staffing needs with principals, personnel committee, and Board
- Provide leadership in training and evaluating all employees of the school.
- Establish a clear line of authority, assign personnel, and develop job descriptions as needed.
- Carry out all discipline as prescribed in the policies.
- Meet regularly with the staff to ensure coordination of programs and quick problem resolution.
- Implement curriculum approved by the Curriculum Committee and LCS School Board.
- Maintain an adequate supply of texts and supplies to carry out the planned curriculum.
- Facilitate class scheduling, room usage and teacher assignments to meet the needs of students.
- Provide short and long-range planning. Develop yearly calendars and maintain schedule of all school events in coordination with departments of LCS.
Parent Relations
- Promote the vision of Christian Education in general and of Lafayette Christian School specifically to all parents.
- Inform parents of the school policy and any changes.
- Inform parents of student performance, progress, or special needs
- Keep parents aware of financial obligations.
- Act as mediator for teachers and parents in the event of a conference or conflict.
- Providing means for parents to give feedback to teachers.
Student Relations
- Counsel students as needed (academic, personal, or spiritual)
- Resolve conflicts between students and/or staff.
- Supervise the enforcement of policies of the school.
- Carry out the procedures for the admission of students.
- Meet with parents and students concerning course selection as needed.
- Administer Corporal Training as needed.
- Make arrangements for standardized and college board testing.
- Write college recommendations and employees reference letters.
- Assure that students have required courses and credits.
- Serve as ex-officio member of the Student Affairs Committee
Financial Responsibilities
- Gather data and analyze needs to prepare a budget.
- Present the budget to the LCS school board.
- Oversee Bookkeeper and Business Manager.
- Implement sound business principles to ensure moral and ethical financial performance.
- Authorize contracts to agencies or people outside the school as authorized by the Board.
School Board Relations
- Facilitate the work of the Board by the submission of requested reports, documents, suggested policies, etc for the operation of LCS.
- Attend all LCS Board meetings and serve as ex-officio member.
- Maintain a positive relationship with Board members.
- Serve as ex-officio member of sub-committees as assigned by the board.
Church Relations
- Maintain a positive relationship with local churches and their ministerial staff.
- Coordinate schedules, room usage, and maintenance between school departments.
- Build positive relations with local churches.
Government and Accrediting Agency Relations
- Oversee the compliance with the requirements of governmental and accrediting agencies including standards and reports concerning statistics, safety, health, certification, and academics.
- Be knowledgeable and stay up to date concerning various codes and regulations as they apply to LCS.
- Implement and follow-up on procedures and steps that must be taken in order to be in compliance with all government codes and accreditation standards.
- Be a part of accreditation visits external to Lafayette Christian School
Public Relations
- Provide information about the school and answer any inquiries regarding enrollment, dismissal, or general policy.
- Maintain a positive public image and healthy public relations with regard to media, civic, educational and religious organizations.
- Represent the school at ACSI, Chamber of Commerce, and other Civic Functions
- Seek out, build positive relationships and secure funding from individuals, businesses, churches, foundations, civic organizations and industry.
Requirements
Spiritual and Character Qualifications
- Must be born again believer who demonstrates a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Must actively model Christ-like behavior and leadership
- Well managed family life, modeling biblical principles
- Must exhibit maturity, integrity, and responsibility in both personal and professional life.
- Must be a member of, a regular attender, and supporter of a Bible believing church.
- Must affirm the mission and, vision, and statement of faith and philosophy of Lafayette Christian School
Professional Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred in Education form a recognized college or university.
- Must meet the requirements of the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for a Head of School.
- Proven experience in educational leadership, preferably in Christian education.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
