Description
The Opportunity
We are prayerfully seeking our next Head of School (HOS) to lead Veritas Academy of Tucson into its next season of growth and faithfulness.
The HOS will serve as the chief servant leader, providing spiritual leadership, guiding Directors, and ensuring that all aspects of the school align with our mission. Rather than micromanaging, the HOS will lead leaders, equipping, supporting, and holding them accountable. The HOS will also serve as the key connection between the Board, staff, families, and the wider Tucson community.
About Veritas Academy of Tucson
Veritas Academy of Tucson is a private, classical Christian school serving grades K–12. Founded in 2008, Veritas partners with families to provide an academically rigorous, Christ-centered education that cultivates wisdom, character, and a love for God.
We operate as a University-Model School® (UMS), combining professional classroom instruction with parent-led home learning. This structure strengthens family relationships, nurtures discipleship, and equips students to thrive academically and spiritually.
As a classical school, we employ time-tested methods such as the Trivium (Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric), emphasizing the great works of Western civilization and the conviction that all knowledge is illuminated by Christ, the source of all truth.
Our mission is to assist families in raising children who love and glorify God, who grow in wisdom and virtue, and who are prepared to run the race of faith well.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership – Model a vibrant faith in Christ through Scripture, prayer, discipleship, and church involvement. Encourage a Christ-focused vision for the school and shepherd the community with humility and grace.
Leadership of Leaders – Supervise and support Directors (Academics, Administration, Family Ministries, Student Life), implementing a process of growth-oriented performance reviews rooted in servant leadership.
Strategic Direction & Board Partnership – Collaborate with the Board on long-term planning, policy development, and organizational health. Provide insight and transparency at board meetings.
Academic & Operational Oversight (through Directors) – Ensure academics, operations, and student life align with mission, while equipping and holding Directors accountable for excellence.
Community & Parent Partnership – Serve as a visible, approachable shepherd to families. Strengthen parent partnerships and represent Veritas to churches, prospective families, and the Tucson community.
