Briarwood Christian School (BCS), a ministry of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is a co-educational school serving over 1600 students in grades Junior Kindergarten through 12. The school exists to provide a Christ-centered transformational education that equips and inspires each student to glorify God by maximizing his or her God-given abilities.
The History Department seeks to hire a full-time High School History teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. We are looking for passionate, dynamic teachers who demonstrate the following qualities:

Job Description
Experience in effectively leading Christ-centered, student-focused, collaborative, engaging, and innovative classes
Hold to a Biblically informed philosophy of Christian Education and commitment to Christian discipleship
Demonstrate an understanding of and love for students as image-bearers of God
Possess a growth mindset and leadership in their own learning, especially in Biblical and content area knowledge
Have a deep understanding of and desire to live out Briarwood’s mission and vision for the glory of God
Teach for transformation from a Biblical worldview by emphasizing Christ’s preeminence in all things
Requirements
Job Requirements
Prior experience teaching history or history related courses; employment experience in a business field is preferred
must have a minimum of an earned Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in History - Secondary Education; a Master’s degree in History / Teaching is desired and preferred
teach for transformation from a Biblical world and life view by emphasizing Christ’s preeminence in all things
Attendance at all regular teaching meetings, training, and events
Willing to sponsor a club or be involved in student co-curricular activities
Desire to lead and mentor a small group of students, with a focus on Growth, Accountability, and Prayer (GAP)
Successfully complete a criminal background check and MinistrySafe training; both are renewed every three years.
