Position Overview

Lakeland Christian School is seeking a passionate and qualified High School Science Teacher to join our academic community beginning in August 2026. This position calls for an educator who sees science as a means of exploring God's creation and who can inspire students to marvel at the intricacies of the natural world while developing rigorous scientific thinking skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach high school science courses which may include Physical Science, Intro to Physics, Chemistry, Fundamentals of Engineering, and/or other science disciplines based on qualifications and school needs
• Integrate biblical worldview authentically throughout curriculum and instruction, helping students see the harmony between faith and science
• Design and deliver engaging lessons using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, focusing on backward design, essential questions, and authentic assessments
• Cultivate a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaborative learning
• Assess and support student learning through varied formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives
• Maintain laboratory safety and manage hands-on experiments and demonstrations effectively
• Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities
• Participate actively in department meetings, professional development, faculty devotions, and school-wide events
• Model Christian character and serve as a spiritual mentor to students

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid teaching certification or eligibility for certification in secondary science education
• Demonstrable expertise in one or more of the following: Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, Fundamentals of Engineering, or related disciplines
• Experience with Understanding by Design (UbD) curriculum planning framework or willingness to be trained
• Commitment to biblical integration and demonstrated ability to teach from a Christian worldview
• Personal faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with Lakeland Christian School's Statement of Faith
• Active membership in a local Bible-believing church
  

Desired Qualifications

• Prior teaching experience at the secondary level
• Laboratory management and safety certification
• Experience with project-based learning, STEM initiatives, or engineering design challenges
• Familiarity with current educational technology tools and learning management systems
• Experience coaching or leading extracurricular activities
