Position Overview
Big Valley Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, mission-driven Junior High / High School Principal to provide strong spiritual, academic, and operational leadership for grades 7–12. The Principal partners closely with the Superintendent and leadership team to cultivate a thriving campus culture marked by academic excellence, biblical truth, and student growth.
This role provides oversight of faculty and staff, curriculum and instruction, student life and discipline, campus programs, and day-to-day operations. The Principal leads with high expectations, clarity, and care—supporting teachers through evaluation, development, and collaboration, while ensuring students are known, challenged, and supported academically, spiritually, and socially.
The Principal also plays a key role in long-range planning, campus safety, budgeting, and school-wide events, while maintaining strong communication with parents, staff, and the School Board as needed. Above all, this leader models a growing Christian faith, demonstrates a heart for discipleship, and is committed to partnering with families to prepare students to impact the world for Christ.

Key Responsibilities
Faculty and Staff
Set and maintain high standards for academics, spiritual life and behavior for faculty and staff
Make personal classroom evaluations of all faculty and staff according to approved school-wide guidelines: initiate and implement necessary changes; follow-up with corrective action as needed for improved performance; reviews staff performance with the Superintendent
Lead departmental/staff meeting on a regular basis.
Plan and implement school schedules, class assignments, and student class loads.
Participate in the process of interviewing and hiring new faculty and staff.
Assist in the formulation and implementation of faculty orientation prior to the start of the school year.
Develop, implement and evaluate school-level staff development programs
Curriculum and Academic Standards
Oversee the development and enhancement of the overall school curriculum and course of study.
Review teachers’ performance as it relates to faculty lesson plans and course of study.
Assist, review and approve classroom materials to be used by the faculty and student body.
Take necessary corrective action to maintain high instructional and academic standards.
Monitor and develop student assessment programs
Student Standards and Conduct
Administer appropriate discipline to students when necessary.
Follow the school-wide approved discipline procedures and standards.
Assist faculty with classroom discipline issues to minimize the impact on the educational process.
Be available to meet with parents to give counsel as it relates to student life including academic performance and discipline.
Maintain enrollment and attendance procedures
School Functions
Review and approve all campus activities.
Oversee the scheduling and implementation of events throughout the school year.
Assist in the formulation of the annual school calendar.
Participate in school-wide functions and events.
Participate in 7-12 functions and events.
Oversee the chapel program in collaboration with the Campus Pastor.
Develop, implement and evaluate student and parent and advisory groups.
Oversee and monitor the athletic program.
Administrative Functions
Work with the administrative team on long range planning, daily operational issues, policy development and staffing.
Ensure that the safety guidelines for the campus are adhered to, and if necessary, adjusted with the approval of administration.
School Board
Prepare reports and/or presentations requested by the school board.
Attend board meetings upon request.
Personal and professional Growth
Meet on a regular basis with the Superintendent for prayer, planning and job performance review.
Be an active member of Big Valley Grace.
Participate in professional development, courses, conferences to enhance school leadership.
Maintain a spiritual life which demonstrates faithfulness, teachability, and accountability to the Superintendent.
Financial Operations
Work in conjunction with the administrative team to formulate the annual school budget.
Authorize operational expenditures related to the operation of 7-12 program.
Professional Qualifications
Job Requirements
Mature, committed Christian demonstrating spiritual maturity and servant leadership.
Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
California Administrative Credential (completed or willing to complete).
ACSI Administrative Credential (completed or willing to complete).
Proven success as a Christian school administrator or educational leader preferred.
Excellent communicator with the ability to build trust and inspire collaboration.
Must fully support the Statement of Faith, Constitution, and Bylaws of Big Valley Grace Community Church and be (or become) an active member.
