Description
High Point Christian Academy (HPCA) is seeking a dedicated and professionally qualified K-12 School Counselor to support the academic, career, and personal/social development of our students in a Christ-centered environment.
The ideal candidate will uphold HPCA's mission of providing a Christ-centered, quality education and academic excellence, and integrating a Biblical worldview into all areas of student support.
Key Responsibilities:
The School Counselor will design, implement, and manage a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with professional standards and HPCA's mission, including:
- Personal/Social-Emotional Support: Offer short-term individual and small group counseling to address students' immediate needs, concerns, and developmental issues (e.g., managing emotions, interpersonal skills, anxiety, grief).
Biblical Integration & Discipleship: Integrate biblical truth and a Christian perspective into counseling and guidance activities, fostering spiritual growth, godly character, and a biblical worldview.
Consultation & Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, and external community resources to advocate for and support student success.
Program Assessment: Utilize data to assess the effectiveness of the school counseling program and identify student needs, aligning efforts with the school's mission and improvement goals.
Crisis Response: Provide responsive services, including crisis intervention and referral for students needing long-term support.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and the ability to articulate a personal Christian testimony.
- Agreement with and ability to uphold the Statement of Faith and Core Values of High Point Christian Academy (Kingdom Education, Biblically-Integrated Curriculum, etc.).
- Master's Degree in School Counseling or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- State Certification/Licensure as a School Counselor (or eligibility).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills for working with students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree or formal training in Biblical Counseling is strongly preferred, or significant experience providing counseling and guidance from an explicitly Christian and biblical framework.
- State Certification/Licensure as a School Counselor (or eligibility).
- Previous experience as a K-12 School Counselor in a Christian school setting.
