Description
CONDUCT OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM:
Faculty and Staff are expected to exhibit exemplary conduct at all times in all means of communication. Not only should their lives bring honor and glory to the Lord at school, but also at home and wherever else they may go. At no time should an employee engage in any activity that might become a stumbling block to students, parents, or others of the Christian community. Any social media chatter or pictures that are unflattering towards people or FCA or country, anything ungodly or discriminatory may result in disciplinary action per administration. Unless there is an emergency pending, cell phone use for personal reasons is not allowed during times when the teacher of staff member is responsible for student supervision.
TEACHER ETHICS AND CONDUCT:
For reasons of building intra-school loyalty, internal problems are to be discussed only among faculty members, administration or individual parties involved. Principles from Matthew 18:15-18 should be followed to involve only those necessary to resolve a problem. Maintain a professional relationship with parents. Avoid developing a relationship with parents that makes you feel that you must treat a student differently because of the relationship. Unless you have the parents' written permission, you may not share information from a student's cumulative folder or other private information with anyone outside of our professional school community. When talking with parents, say something positive about their children before you discuss concerns relating to their child. Avoid discussion of school concerns on school premises where parents, students or others may overhear. Never discuss negative aspects of one student in front of another. Never discuss negative aspects of Freedom or its personnel with another parent.
BIBLICAL INTEGRATION:
All teachers are expected to integrate Biblical principles into their teaching in all subjects taught at FCA. Evidence of Biblical integration will be noted in electronic lesson/unit plans. All subjects are to be taught in a manner consistent with Scripture. However, we do not expect that every lesson will have biblical principles or proof texts to support teaching because the Bible was not written as a comprehensive school subject text.
Middle and high school classes MUST begin every class period in prayer. First period is allotted additional time to prioritize prayer, devotion and pledges as well as attendance and lunch count.
UNIT PLANS:
Teachers are to prepare or update curriculum guides for each subject taught on a yearly basis. Teachers are to complete unit plans for each unit taught. The unit plans should follow the designated template. Approximate time periods for major units should be projected as well as spiritual integration.
WEEKLY LESSON PLANS:
Weekly lesson plans giving each day's educational objective and assignments will be prepared by teachers electronically and uploaded to the school management software before classes begin each Monday.
Items such as test, quiz, project, and homework must be placed in the parent viewable area as assigned by department.
