Description
The job of a Middle School-High School Teacher involves helping students learn about the necessary concepts in the various math subjects being taught. Duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the evaluation and marking of work handed in. You will arrange activities and set targets for your pupils. You will write on whiteboards and will be responsible for the safety of pupils during your lessons.
Requirements
- Communication Skills: You must be able to speak clearly to students, other teachers, parents and administration officials.
- Instruction Skills: Be able to create a student-centered learning environment that will engage and empower students, explaining new ideas and unfamiliar concepts in a clear and concise way so that students can understand. You must work to keep the students' attention.
- Technology: All classrooms are equipped with Mimio technology and white boards for use while teaching. Teachers are to strive to present lessons in a comprehensive manner, using audio and video means to facilitate learning.
- Patience: The students you work with will have different backgrounds and abilities. Teachers must create lessons that will meet the needs of diverse learners. Teachers must be able to know when to provide both remedial and enrichment instruction, based upon the student’s needs.
- Creativity: Teachers have to find ways to involve students in their lessons. Additionally, teachers may have to work with different learning styles to get the most out of each student.
- People Skills: Understand the importance of developing a strong, positive relationship with students and families.
- Writing Skills: Teachers write progress reports, notes home, and other forms of communication. Writing skills are critical.
- Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and in-house in-service opportunities.
