Description
Faith International Academy is seeking a trained, dedicated, and enthusiastic middle school Language Arts teacher! The teacher is responsible for teaching grades 6-8 integrated reading and writing courses, including analyzing diverse texts such as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama. Key areas of study include developing critical thinking, mastering grammar and punctuation, building vocabulary, and practicing creative and persuasive writing.
Requirements
FIA is a small missionary school in the southern Philippines with a dedicated team of teachers and diligent students. It has small class sizes of up to 16 students. The successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications and be passionate about developing life-long learners. They will be a member of a sending organization (mission agency or strong home church). Cross-cultural experience and flexibility is beneficial.
Reporting Responsibilities: Report to their Lead Teacher, and the Principal.
Qualifications:
- Possess a love for Christ and for students.
- Have a vital, growing relationship with Christ.
- Are a regular member of their local church.
- Agree wholeheartedly to the Statement of Faith.
- Hold or pursuing appropriate professional credentials.
Essential Functions:
- Teach classes and courses as assigned following FIA adopted curriculum
- Plan using unit/semester/quarterly plans and objectives that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to his/her potential.
- Utilize best teaching practices to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of Christian education philosophy.
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Prioritize FIA responsibilities above outside ministry commitments.
- Know and comply with the school practices as stated in the faculty handbook and student-parent handbook.
- Manage and update data on school software in a timely manner.
- Work within the supervision, evaluation and professional development framework to maintain an attitude of professional growth and lifelong learning.
- Attend and participate in assigned meetings, curriculum and professional development and accreditation work.
- Attend and participate in scheduled in-service, retreats, committee, faculty, and Parent Teacher meetings.
- Demonstrate Christ-like role model.
- Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating them with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Follow Christian principles in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
