Position Summary:
The Middle School Math and Science Teacher helps steward the calling and resources God has entrusted to them by providing Christ-permeated instruction that nurtures both the hearts and minds of students. This individual is dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and character development in alignment with our mission of Equipping Leaders for Christ. The Middle School Math and Science Teacher plans and facilitates engaging, biblically integrated lessons that challenge students to think critically, grow spiritually, and live faithfully. This individual partners with parents, colleagues, and school leadership to ensure that each student is cared for in ways consistent with Christ-centered excellence. The teacher must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, spiritual maturity, and a heart for ministry—reflecting Christ in both word and action as a representative of the living curriculum at Legacy Christian Academy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Excellence:
Plan and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that integrate biblical truth with academic content.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Maintain and update LCA’s curriculum map for assigned courses.
Maintain clear academic and behavioral expectations consistent with the school’s mission and classroom management policies.
Utilize various instructional strategies and educational technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative methods.
Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, and student progress.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance.
Work cooperatively with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff to promote a unified, Christ-centered school community.
Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Support and uphold all school policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and family information, upholding ethical and professional standards.
Create a classroom atmosphere that is orderly, nurturing, and conducive to learning.
Care for and manage classroom materials, technology, and resources responsibly.
Encourage respect, kindness, and teamwork among students.
Living Curriculum Representative:
Pursue excellence in the position at all times, maintaining a consistent heart attitude of working for the Lord and not for men (Colossians 3:23).
Humbly serve others in a manner that reflects Christ’s love and character (Philippians 2:3), modeling godly character and encouraging others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
Serve as a minister of the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20) in leading other employees and Legacy Christian Academy students and families by example and instruction in thought, word, and deed (Philippians 4:8-9).
Miscellaneous Service:
Participate in assigned LCA safety and security roles (e.g. door duty, lunch duty, recess duty, early room duty, fire drill and lock down procedures).
Serve in LCA’s discipleship and class mentor programs as assigned (e.g. Chapel attendance, Day of Prayer and Service, Class Mentoring).
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Skilled in utilizing Google Suite applications, including Google Drive.
Ability to utilize a learning management system (e.g. Google Classroom) for course organization and student success
Proficiency with LCA’s school information system for communication and documentation (e.g. FACTS SIS)
Requirements
Position Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Middle Childhood Education or a related field
Obtain an ODE Permanent Non-Tax Certificate or Teaching License to teach in an Ohio nonpublic school prior to employment
ACSI Secondary or Specialist Teacher Certification or ability to obtain ACSI Teacher Certification prior to employment
Ideal Qualifications:
Masters degree in a related field
5 years teaching experience
