Description
The Christian English School of Torino (CES-to) is a small start-up school in Torino, ITALY (Northwest Italy, near the Alps). CES-to is a TeachBeyond Family School. A preschool teaching education degree is preferred but not necessary. However, a love for kids and a desire to serve the Lord in a very needy spiritual environment are necessary. Teachers will be challenged living in a cross-cultural environment and encouraged to learn Italian, but all teaching will be in English to children of varying and developing English skills. Teaching English as a second language training is helpful.
School Description: The school will be serving children from pre-K into the primary years with the intention of increasing years annually, eventually serving children pre-K through 12. CES-to tries to apply Montessori principles in the earlier years with a gradual shift toward a classical educational format as the years progress. As a small school, multi-level learning will at times be necessary. The anticipated student / teacher ratio is about five with additional assistants and volunteers.
Location: Torino is a city of about one million people located in northwestern Italy near the Italian alps. Italy is a very challenging spiritual environment with very few evangelical Christians (about 1%) and there are no Biblically-oriented Christian schools in all of northwestern Italy, and very few in all of Italy. United with TeachBeyond, CES-to is pioneering Christian education in Italy. CES-to will be serving the entire evangelical Christian community of Torino. There is also a large number of immigrants in Italy, primarily from South America, Romania, Albania, China, Morocco and other parts of Africa. While CES-to will focus on the evangelical Christian community, others who are non-religious, Catholic or from other religions are invited to send their children, provided they are not opposed to the Biblical content and perspectives that will be incorporated into the CES-to curriculum and character training.
Unique Aspects: The Christian English School of Torino (CES-to) has a family and loving environment. Other unique aspects of CES-to include an outdoor/nature-oriented educational focus and a dedication to serving the various needs in the Torino community.
Salary and Benefits: This is a missionary / self-funded position. Missionary teachers will need to work through a mission agency for their financial support and expenses. The school will provide assistance in locating a residence and a housing allowance, assistance in obtaining a visa and the proper legal documents for Italian residence, language acquisition and cultural adjustment / adaptation.
Requirements
The primary requirements are a love for Jesus and a love for children. The ideal person will have a university degree preschool education. This is a missionary position and therefore it will be necessary to be self-supported or work with a mission agency for providing your missionary salary. Assistance with housing and a housing stipend will be provided. ACSI certification is desirable, or a desire to work toward ACSI certification as a teacher. Teaching Children English as a Second Language (ESL) training and/or experience will be very helpful.
