- MS/HS Math Teacher
Description
For the 2025-2026 school year, we have a rare opportunity to add a vibrant, highly effective math/STEM teacher (male or female) whose calling in life is to disciple young men while engaging them in the rigors and wonders of math and/or science. Warning: this opening could be the calling of a lifetime or a complete disaster! For the person created for the blessings and trials of building a genuine discipleship community for middle and high school young men who are learning how better to love Jesus, this is the dream calling. For the person who cannot articulate an intense yearning to thrive in a discipleship community, this would be a miserable job. In addition to the typical teaching load of three to four hours of daily classes, the MS/HS Math teacher—like all Iron Academy faculty members—will be fully engaged as a fellow builder of the Iron Academy discipleship community. Though we try to limit commitments outside of the school day, there are special events in the Iron Academy life in which each team member will be expected to participate.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree or beyond in Math, Sciences, or a related field
- Two or more years of results-rich teaching experience
- Strong history of—and capacity for—discipling young men, and the energy and grit to engage fully in a discipleship community
- Exceptional classroom management skills
- Ability to make rigorous learning appealing to young men
- Articulable calling to Iron Academy’s unique mission and vision
- Deep understanding of best practices in math education
- The capacity and desire to work in a close-knit team environment
- Capacity to add value as we build the finest STEM department in North Carolina
- Ability to interact professionally with parents and school-community members
Qualified and interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter via email to Candace Armogida at carmogida@ironacademy.org and to Alan Hahn at hahn@ironacademy.org. The cover letter should communicate clearly why the candidate feels called to Iron Academy in general and to this position in particular. Know what you are considering! We are unique. Have questions: buy the book and check out the website.
