We are recruiting outstanding teachers to fill specialist positions open in the following areas: Elementary Music (PreK-12) for the 2025-2026 school year!
We strive to aid in the development of the “whole” child – academic, spiritual, socio-emotional, ethical, and physical growth and offer specials to support this development. All elementary grades receive specials classes in Art, Computer, Music, Library, Spanish, and P.E. Students in Middle and High School also take these courses either as requirements or as electives during different semesters.
The Inter-American School (IAS) is a Christian, English language immersion school located in the beautiful highland valley of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, We offer U.S. curriculum and instruction to students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. IAS was established in 1961, and by God’s grace has continued to grow and serve the educational needs of students from both international and local families. We strive to inspire students in academic achievement and to provide an authentic Christian environment that encourages students to demonstrate Christ-like behavior and be active disciples in their community. It is our daily goal to equip students with the proper knowledge and life skills that will develop their talents and empower them to transform the world in Christ’s name.

Requirements

We realize that teaching at IAS is a unique task and calling, as it requires not only the skills to teach, but also the willingness to live in a foreign country and culture. IAS works to fully support teachers, both in their work and in their living situations.

We are looking for applicants who are willing to help us fulfill our mission to promote academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment. Teaching requirements:
- Teachers must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Teachers must have a bachelor's degree; a degree in education or science is preferred, but not required.
- Teachers must speak English as their first language (or near-native fluency).
- Teachers have responsibilities to plan and teach the equivalent of 5 courses. There are 8 periods in the school day, which runs from 7:30am to 3:30pm for all staff.
- Teachers should have a spirit of service and be willing to teach other areas as needed
- A teaching license is not required to work at IAS
