Genoa Christian Academy (GCA) is seeking passionate and dedicated 6th–12th Grade teachers who are committed to academic excellence and integrating biblical principles into the teaching of middle and high school subject areas (Art, Bible, English Language Arts, Math, Music, Science, Social Studies, or Spanish). The ideal candidate will have a strong faith in Jesus Christ, a love for students, and the ability to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that nurtures intellectual and spiritual growth. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Faith-Based Commitment: A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with GCA’s Statement of Faith.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s degree a plus).
Certification: Valid teaching certification
Experience: Previous teaching experience preferred, but recent graduates with a heart for Christian education are encouraged to apply.
Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a passion for mentoring students academically and spiritually.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Excellence (Colossians 3:23-24)
- Teach the subject area at the assigned grade level(s) in accordance with the school’s mission and purpose.
- Develop lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of subject matter concepts.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide meaningful feedback.
- Prepare students for standardized tests and higher-level courses as applicable.
Spiritual Integration (James 1:5, Proverbs 3:5-6)
- Encourage students to recognize God’s order and creativity.
- Lead appropriate classroom discussions.
- Serve as a spiritual role model for students, reflecting Christlike character in interactions and teaching.
- Lead and/or participate in prayer, devotions, and school chapel services as required.
Classroom Management and Student Support (1 Corinthians 14:40, Ephesians 4:2-3)
- Establish and maintain a Christ-centered learning environment that fosters respect, kindness, and discipline.
- Provide additional support to students who need extra help in understanding concepts and material.
- Enforce school policies with grace, fairness, and a commitment to student growth.
- Encourage students to apply biblical wisdom in their decision-making and daily lives.
Collaboration and Professional Growth (Ecclesiastes 4:9, Proverbs 27:17)
- Work closely with other faculty members to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
- Support and participate in extracurricular activities, mission trips, and community outreach as needed.
