Description
Grace Christian High School (GCS), Staunton, VA, is looking for an Upper School (MS/HS) Principal for the 2026-27 school year. Current principal is departing at the end of the school year. All candidates should read and agree to the GCS Statement of Faith available on our website. GCS does not currently have benefits, but is looking to add them. Staunton is a city of 25,000 located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. It is the principal city of the Staunton-Waynesboro Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 125,000. The city has a historic downtown comprised of small shops and restaurants. The Shakespeare Center, the Heifetz Festival, and the Staunton Music Festival are the foundation of a strong fine arts community in the city.
The area around Staunton is rural farmland and has easy access to hiking and camping, as well as access to larger cities like Richmond, and Washington, D.C. The beach is three hours and fifteen minutes away. The Augusta County and Staunton are home both to natives who have deep roots in the community and a significant number of transplants who have grown to love and deeply support the life of the area.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Earned a degree in education.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching and/or 3 years of administrative experience.
- Pass a background check.
- Be passionately committed to Christian education.
- Exemplify and articulate a saving and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Have a spiritual maturity with the professional and personal ability to Biblically lead the ES/MS faculty/staff.
- Faithfully attend a Bible believing church.
- Demonstrate a talent for leading teachers, relating to elementary and middle school students, and working with parents.
- Effective communicator.
- Ability to solve problems.
- Remain calm in stressful situations.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Report to Head of School
- Serves on Leadership and Academic Teams.
- Leads, supervises and evaluates 7th-12th grade faculty/staff
- Interviews prospective 7th-12th grade faculty/staff and recommends hiring to Head of School
- Provides orientation for new 7th-12th grade faculty/staff
- Performs classroom visits and provides feedback to teachers.
- Works with teachers to develop schedules.
- Manages 7th-12th grade financial accounts
- Leads Upper School programs
- Understands, promotes, and leads training of Biblical Worldview for classroom implementation.
- Interviews and provides tours for prospective families
