Key Tasks
A. Strategic direction and development of MCSC
1. Lead the operations of MCSC to fulfill the Vision and Mission.
2. Working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board of Directors to develop and document and implement a Strategic Development Plan.
3. Developing marketing materials that will promote MCSC, and help with fundraising and recruitment of qualified staff.
4. Work with the Accreditation coordinator and the SLT to prepare for accreditation visits and then ensure the implementation of recommendations.
B. Maintaining & promoting a Christian ethos throughout the MCSC community
1. Ensuring that worship and prayer are integral components of MCSC’s daily programme, curriculum and overall ethos.
2. Promoting adherence by all members of staff to traditional Christian values, particularly in relation to curriculum delivery, student discipline and behaviour and the application of sanctions and rewards.
3. Encouraging, and where possible facilitating, participation of MCSC in the worship activities of churches attended by staff members or students.
4. Promoting the teaching of MCSC values
5. Maintaining regular liaison with the Board of Directors and SLT.
C. Leading and managing staff
1. Leading the SLT, coordinators and staff to support the work of all grades.
2. Implementing and sustaining effective systems for managing staff performance, incorporating appraisal, classroom observations and target setting for all staff.
3. Dealing with interpersonal issues by applying a range of skills and ensuring that there are effective channels of communication.
4. Leading staff meetings and overseeing the provision of in-service training.
5. Promote and enable professional development of staff by example.
6. Ensuring the effective direction and coordination of work for staff to ensure that professional duties are fulfilled.
7. Working with the SLT, to interview and recruit appropriately qualified staff to meet the needs of MCSC. (see Recruitment Policy)
8. Ensuring that extracurricular events: sporting fixtures, celebrations, field trips etc take place and are properly organised.
D. Teaching and learning
1. Ensuring the coordination of relevant curricula for all Grades and year groups.
2. Taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of teaching and learning activities in all Grades and year groups and mentoring them in that capacity.
3. Promoting strategies to achieve effective teaching and learning, particularly in key areas of literacy, numeracy and religious education.
4. Ensuring that, wherever possible, additional support and opportunities for professional development are provided to members of staff
5. Ensuring that baseline assessments are conducted annually for all pupils.
6. Carry out subject specific (where appropriate) and/or class teaching responsibilities as required (depending on the incumbent’s experience).
E. Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources
1. Working with the Finance Officer to develop and prepare the annual budget for approval, in conjunction with the Board treasurer.
2. Overseeing the implementation of the budget, to ensure that resources are efficiently and effectively utilized.
3. Authorizing payments and expenditures within limits defined and delegated by the Board of Directors.
4. Managing all support and administrative activities (delegating as appropriate) required for effective teaching and learning throughout MCSC.
5. Approve the teaching timetable(s) to ensure appropriate staffing, rooming, cover and specialist teacher support.
6. Taking responsibility for the enrollment of new students.
7. Ensuring that rotas are established where necessary.
F. Building Services and Facilities Maintenance
1. Manage and coordinate all planned and unplanned maintenance for buildings and property and ensure that repairs are swift and cost effective.
2. Maintaining the grounds and gardens in an aesthetically pleasing condition.
3. Ensure all playground and exterior surroundings are safe for children to play in and eliminate as much as possible any potential hazards that may be detected.
4. Ensure the Health and Safety policies are adhered to.
5. Develop ecological opportunities within MCSC.
G. Accountability
1. Securing the support of parents and devising strategies for leading parents to an informed understanding of MCSC, its activities and vision.
2. Ensuring that every opportunity is taken to enhance the quality of education provided and to promote the perception of MCSC to potential families.
3. Ensuring that a consistent approach is taken to the presentation of documents, correspondence, etc.
4. In conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and the Board, prepare an annual report of MCSC’s activities to be delivered to parents and other stakeholders.
5. Provide a monthly report to the Board of Directors of the MCSC’s activities and events.

PRINCIPAL/HEAD OF SCHOOL
MCSC Maadi Community Study Center
MCSC in Cairo, Egypt is seeking an experienced, servant-hearted leader with a vision and passion for high quality Christian education to fulfil the role of Principal/Head of School.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a personal and professional life that bears witness to an authentic, deep walk with Christ. He/she will be committed to both rigorous education standards as well as the spiritual development of students and staff. He/she will be a skilled, proactive leader with proven experience in empowering, equipping and inspiring teachers to grow professionally. In addition, he/she will be willing to invest in creating genuine relationships with students, staff and parents, particularly where there are cultural differences. At MCSC we value our place in Egypt and the unique perspectives of our multi-cultural community. We are seeking a candidate that shares our mission and vision to serve third culture students and their families.
MCSC began over 25 years ago with a vision to provide affordable education primarily for the children of expatriate Christian development workers, through a rich and challenging internationally recognised curriculum. Today we are a diverse and vibrant community of 100 students representing 20 different nationalities and over 30 staff members representing 12 nationalities. We provide education for students from Reception/KG1 (3 years) through to High School (US Grade 12). We follow the English National Curriculum Reception-Year 9 and US High School Curriculum for grades 9-12. MCSC is a member of and accredited by Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and committed to retaining and exceeding accreditation standards.
MCSC provides a modest monthly allowance, however some individuals may want to supplement their income depending on family size and standard of living. The actual rate is dependent on the degree, specific qualifications, and experience in previous job responsibilities.

Qualifications
*Degree in Education (Required)
*A current safeguarding / working with children check or other such approval from every country you have worked in for the last ten years (Required)
*Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant field
*Professional certifications in leadership or education
Preferred Experience
*Experience in a senior leadership role that includes successful leading, coaching and developing staff
*Evidence of setting high standards and monitoring progress in order to continually raise the teaching and learning outcomes for students
*Experience as Principal / Head Teacher
*Involvement in school-wide strategic planning and evaluation
*Experience working in international or cross-cultural setting
*Experience working in Christian education
*Experience with a school accreditation process

*Evidence of continuing professional development throughout career
*Inspirational leadership with the ability to implement change in a sensitive way, gaining the commitment of all stakeholders
