About Rosslyn Academy
Rosslyn Academy is a vibrant international Christian school in Nairobi, Kenya, offering a North American curriculum and standards, from Preschool through Grade 12. Founded in 1947, our diverse community of 700+ students represents over 50 nationalities.
We are fully accredited with both the Middle States Association (MSA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We have an international staff, mostly recruited from the United States and Canada. Rosslyn Academy is a joint effort of the Eastern Mennonite, Southern Baptist, and Assemblies of God missions in Eastern Africa, though the school is non-denominational in faith, practice, and hiring.

Requirements
START DATE: 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR
The Superintendent will provide the institutional leadership necessary to foster positive growth among the students and staff of Rosslyn Academy in Nairobi, Kenya, ensuring the development of their God-given gifts for Christ-like service within the global community.
Qualifications
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Exhibit a continuing sense of God’s calling to service at Rosslyn Academy.
- Demonstrate a respect for diversity of culture, religion, and different Christian traditions.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for the diversity of the body of Christ.
- Possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in education from an accredited tertiary body.
- Hold a valid teaching and subsequent administrative certificate from an authorized governmental agency in North America and/or the Association of Christian Schools International.
- Show evidence of recent professional growth.
- Give evidence of previous successful teaching and administrative experience in a North American setting.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development, curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate the ability to use technology for word processing, data management and telecommunications.
- Demonstrate a life congruent with the Basic Tenets of Rosslyn Academy.
Previous international travel and senior administrative experience is preferred.

Curriculum
- Ensure that the curriculum fully supports the mission and purpose statements of the school.
- Cooperatively work with the Director of Teaching and Learning and school principals to establish the curriculum development and review process.
- Annually assign leadership to conduct the curriculum review and development process, per the curriculum review schedule.
- Keep the Board of Governors informed of significant curricular revisions.
Supervision
- Ensure that the organizational system with its clearly defined lines of authority and responsibility is consistently upheld throughout the school.
- Ensure that positive personnel practices are used consistently.
- Evaluate the personnel who are under his/her direct supervision according to the organizational flowchart and evaluation policies.
Administrative Duties
- Ensure that Board and Administrative policies/directives are administered fairly and consistently throughout the school.
- Prepare and present a Superintendent’s report for each Board of Governors meeting.
- Evaluate the school’s progress toward its vision, mission, strategic plans, and annual goals and communicate this progress to the Board of Governors.
- Develop, with the appropriate administrators, recommendations for new Board level policies, personnel recommendations and contracts, annual budgets, and development plans in order to subsequently recommend to the Board of Governors.
- Ensure compliance of all school policies and practices with established Board policies, accreditation standards, and Kenyan legal guidelines.
Provide leadership for continued school growth and accreditation. - Ensure that viable administrative policies, procedures, and position profiles are maintained and revised.
- Provide for an effective recruitment of, and orientation for, new personnel.
- Ensure the school is staffed with adequate faculty and staff.
- Cooperatively work with administration to develop, maintain and operate a program of in-service training and education for all educational staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Admissions to maintain a master calendar, communicating to all necessary constituents the master schedule and special events.
- Oversee and support the Director of Communications and Admissions in promoting the school through strategic marketing, public-relations, and admissions initiatives.
- Provide oversight for the annual budgeting process.
- Responds to abuse, harassment, significant health, and suicide issues as per policy.
Communication and Collaboration
- Use appropriate, effective and sensitive communication modes to communicate the school’s philosophy, needs, mission and accomplishments to all constituents of the school.
- Ensure effective school-wide communication is occurring between all constituents.
- Seek and receive input from administration, faculty and staff, students and parents on issues affecting the school, according to the established lines of communication.
- Establish effective communication links with the broader mission and private sponsor groups of East Africa.
- Attend, advise and collaborate with the Board of Governors.
- Establish and lead an effective Leadership Team of administrators.
- Liaise with the Parent Teacher Fellowship.
- Serve as the RAI board secretary.
- Liaise with the other schools in the region.
- Participate in effective conflict resolution within the school community.
Professional Development
- Annually submit in writing his/her professional goals to the Board of Governors.
- Participate with faculty and administration in professional development and in-service activities.
- Annually obtain performance feedback from administration and as part of his/her evaluation procedure.
- Remain abreast of current developments in technology, learning and administrative theory through active collaboration with other professionals and through reading of professional journals.
