Summary: Seeking a qualified administrator who can provide leadership and direction for teachers and staff at our international school in North Africa. Experience is preferred, but not required. Furnished housing, rent, airfare and an additional stipend are provided.
Responsibilities:
Provide general direction for the school
Clearly grasp the school’s overall vision and values, and assist to develop the school accordingly
Relate confidently and well with government officials, and parents
Effectively work with organizational leadership, school board, teachers, and staff
Project a good image of the school to the local community
Engage in language and cultural learning.
Oversee curriculum development and the implementation of academic programs.
Support the social and emotional well-being of students, staff and teachers.
Duties:
Oversee school administration and all aspects of the school, including before and after school programs and special activities.
Work with the Administrative Director to ensure that national laws and guidelines are followed
Prepare academic calendar, master schedule, assessment schedule, and the schedule for annual parent/teacher conferences
Oversee student, faculty and staff attendance
Create a plan for covering classes or acquiring subs for teacher absences
Support and evaluate teachers
Review performance of support staff and interns with the Administrative Director
Oversee intern program, communicate with interns and teachers, observe interns
Provide ongoing and embedded professional development
Oversee the development of curriculum and assessments
Participate in the hiring of teachers, staff and university interns
Work with the Administrative Director to schedule and plan staff and other meetings
Review new student assessments and communicate with the teachers
Address academic and behavioral student concerns with teachers and parents
Communicate with all staff as necessary to receive input or information that directly impacts their role and responsibilities.
Requirements
Skills:
Able to successfully lead diverse staff at the school
Competency in administration, planning, and project development
Ability to understand financial budgets
Proven interpersonal, intercultural, verbal, and written communication skills
Proficient in curriculum development, instruction and assessment
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
Minimum 1 year experience in teaching and/or school administration (preferred)
Experience in effective team leadership
Successful completion of overseas training requirements
