Primary Teacher (Grade 5)
Reports to: Primary Principal
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Passion for serving God in the context of education
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education
At least one year of primary teaching experience (open to first-year teachers after a successful student teaching experience)
Holds ACSI certification or ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid US State Teacher Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
Two or more years of successful teaching experience
Prior experience in an international school
Master’s Degree in Education or related field
Understanding of Common Core Standards
Experience with English Language Learners and students with special needs
Experience with Science of Reading
Role Specific Responsibilities:
Teaches core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Bible
Collaborates with teachers and leadership around student progress
Focuses on language arts strategies for developing readers
Utilizes methods of progress monitoring and running records (e.g NWEA MAP, benchmark assessments)
Manage classroom and student behavior using Love and Logic, PBIS, and Restorative Practices and Justice
Identifies and seeks support for students who are struggling
Supervises students on assigned days for lunch, drop off, and pick up
Participates and adds value to all professional development and meetings
Communicates regularly with parents
Other duties as assigned
