Summary: Seeking a qualified Special Education (SPED) Teacher who is responsible for planning and implementing goals of a student's individual education plan (IEP) inside and outside the classroom. The SPED teacher will also help coach teachers in how to work with students with special needs. Experience is preferred, but not required. Furnished housing, rent, airfare and an additional stipend are provided.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas (including academic and life skills)
Plans curriculum, lessons and special education programs
Evaluates and monitors student progress
Keeps records and records data
In coordination with the classroom teacher creates Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and learning plans to meet students needs.
Assumes the responsibility for the development and implementation of specific learning objectives to meet the needs of individual students.
Advises classroom teachers on strategies to meet individual student needs
Uses both the pull out and push in methods for students to support their learning
Creates and adds to the resources, curriculum and programs for the Special Education Program
Requirements
Qualification and Skills:
Use current best practices when planning and implementing strategies
Experience working with students with special needs
Clearly communicates in both written and oral communication
Creative and willing to try new things
Applies knowledge of current research and theories
Flexible and willing to adapt to needs of students
Ability to work with an international community with diverse ideas
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:
Bachelor's degree in education, social or behavioral sciences.
Preferred Master’s degree, but not required
Interest and ability to pursue continued education
