Description

Summary: Seeking a qualified Special Education (SPED) Teacher who is responsible for planning and implementing goals of a student's individual education plan (IEP) inside and outside the classroom. The SPED teacher will also help coach teachers in how to work with students with special needs. Experience is preferred, but not required. Furnished housing, rent, airfare and an additional stipend are provided. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas (including academic and life skills)
• Plans curriculum, lessons and special education programs
• Evaluates and monitors student progress
• Keeps records and records data
• In coordination with the classroom teacher creates Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and learning plans to meet students needs.
• Assumes the responsibility for the development and implementation of specific learning objectives to meet the needs of individual students.
• Advises classroom teachers on strategies to meet individual student needs
• Uses both the pull out and push in methods for students to support their learning
• Creates and adds to the resources, curriculum and programs for the Special Education Program

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:

• Bachelor's degree in education, social or behavioral sciences.
• Preferred Master’s degree, but not required
• Interest and ability to pursue continued education
