School Profile
Berean Baptist Academy
School Overview
Berean Baptist Academy is a Christian academy filled with leaders, faculty, and staff who are "Called by Christ" to love and teach children and who are "Committed to Proclaiming Christ through Education." It has always been our desire to fulfill Berean Baptist Church's vision to develop life-long servants of Christ, through partnering with local churches, and assisting parents in creating GRADS: students who are growing disciples of Christ, who embrace their responsibility as citizens of Christ’s kingdom, who are academically excellent, who can discern truth, and who willingly serve Christ through service to others.
Our faculty teaches Biblically integrated lessons. Our upper school (grades 6-12) uses Bob Jones Press as textbook publisher for all core subjects at the regular and honors levels. The lower school (K3-5) uses A Beka Books as the predominate textbook publisher for core academic classes. The fourth and fifth grades use Bob Jones Press math curriculum.
In addition to our core academic program, BBA offers co-curricular opportunities in Fine Arts and Athletics. Our fine arts program includes Concert Band, String Orchestra, and Vocal Choirs. Our athletics, offerings include Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball, Cheerleading, Baseball, Golf, and Cross Country. Finally, our lower school offers a variety of interest-based clubs for students after school.
School History
In the fall of 1975, Berean Christian School opened with 38 students. The oldest students were in the 10th grade, and the youngest was in K4. The school expanded by a class each year eventually graduating three seniors during the spring of 1978. In 1982, the school changed its name from Berean Christian School to Berean Baptist Academy. In 1985, student enrollment climbed to 184 students. In 1989, Berean opened the main school building at 518 Glensford Drive, which allowed the student body size to increase exponentially. In1995, enrollment reached 305. In 2005, the academy enrollment dropped to 256. Realizing that the academy needed more space to grow and not feel crowded, modular educational buildings were added to the Berean Baptist Church complex in the fall of 2010. Enrollment soon climbed over 400 students. For the past five years, student enrollment has exceeded 400 students. Last year, BBA enrollment exceeded 450 students. The 2015-2016 school year saw BBC and BBA break ground on an expanded educational space that will allow student enrollment to grow. With the opening of the new educational space, the student enrollment now exceeds 600 students.
