School History
In 1981 Gramercy Christian School (Originally named The Gramercy School) began from a vision of providing a quality Christian education that is clearly rooted in a biblical foundation. This biblical foundation provided the basis of the Christian worldview that would permeate the curriculum. The school was named Gramercy (Old English expression meaning “great thankfulness” derived from the French phrase “grande merci”). The name was chosen to reflect the vision of a school that thoroughly taught the greatness and mercy of God from all that he has revealed, so that generations of disciples of Christ would be raised up to live grateful lives for the greatness of God. We desire to be a grateful and gracious people in the midst of an ungrateful and entitled culture. Gramercy Christian School desires to have the curriculum focus the lens of our children’s perspective on the Truth and Author of its revelation, so that we can properly respond in grateful living for, “To whom much is given, much is required” (Jesus Christ, Luke 12:48).
