School Profile
Alta Loma Christian School
School Overview
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Alta Loma Christian School, I am privileged to have the opportunity to welcome you to our school. Since 1980, Alta Loma Christian School has offered an excellent academic education founded on the truth of God’s Word. Our mission statement is “Touching Hearts and Training Minds,” and our goal is that each child would grow spiritually and academically, being used by God to accomplish the plans He has for their lives.
Each child is created uniquely by God in His image. We offer three year old Pre-School through 8th grade students an educational program that acknowledges all truth is God’s truth, integrating faith with carefully selected curriculum. Our teachers are Christian leaders in their classrooms, and each is uniquely qualified for the calling God has placed on his or her life. Teachers utilize God’s Word as a framework for helping students understand and evaluate the world around them. Students are encouraged to develop a love for the Bible and the knowledge that comes from learning the truth of His Word.
School History
How did Alta Loma Christian School begin?
Our school is a ministry of Solid Ground Brethren in Christ Church. Our school began 31 years ago on March 17, 1980, as Little People Preschool with just 45 preschool children. By September of 1980, a kindergarten class was started, and the name of the school became Little People Preschool and Kindergarten. In 1985, 1st grade was added, and the school became known as Little People & Co. In 1990, the school expanded to 6th grade, with a 3rd through 6th grade class the first year. It was our version of the "one room school house”. The elementary school became known as Alta Loma Christian School (Alta Loma Christian School). In 1998, the preschool was changed to a pre-kindergarten program, and became a part of Alta Loma Christian School. In 1999, 7th and 8th grade were added as the school expanded with its new Middle School. Gradually, the school added a computer lab, enhanced the library, music, and Spanish programs, installed additional playground equipment, and added a full P.E. program including after school intramural sports. In 2007, Alta Loma Christian School completed the first phase of a building project, adding two classrooms, a computer lab, and additional restrooms. In 2010, our school became accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In 2011, several of our classrooms became Model Classrooms for reading through Renaissance Learning.
It is the hope of the staff of Alta Loma Christian School that we can continue to serve our Lord Jesus Christ for many more years, providing this same excellence in academics and spiritual growth. We wish to thank all of the parents who support us in so many ways. Without the volunteer efforts, dedication, and prayers, this school would not have experienced such success. We thank God for being with us at all times and for allowing us to continue to serve Him.
Benefits
Time Off
Ten month employees are entitled to ten (10) days off with pay during each school year. These accrue monthly based on days actually worked by the employee. Eight (8) of these days are sick days, and two (2) are personal days. Unused sick days can be accumulated for up to three (3) years, and unused personal days will be paid out at the end of each school year at the rate of $25 per day. Specified bereavement time off is not given, though employees may use their sick or personal days for this reason. Time off may be taken in half day or full day increments only. An absence less than or equal to half of the employee’s normally scheduled work day counts as a half day, and an absence greater than half of the employee’s normally scheduled work day counts as a full day.
An optional AFLAC policy is available for employees at employee's own expense for disability, life insurance, accident insurance, and other benefits.
Medical insurance is offered for the employee and family with the school paying a portion of the employee's cost for the employee's coverage. Dental insurance is available at the employee's cost.
