California Crosspoint Academy is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Christian Schools International. School administrators are highly regarded and have served or are serving on the ACSI National Board of Directors, Urban Schools Leadership Council, Regional Accreditation Commission, and Strategic Initiatives Task Force. The school has received commendations from the City Councils of San Leandro and Alameda and is a member of the Hayward and Chinese Chambers of Commerce.

California Crosspoint Academy currently has 255 middle and high school students and anticipates growing to a maximum of 400 high school students, 150 middle school students, 300 elementary students and 75 pre-school students. About 28% of the student population is international students mostly from China and other Asian countries. It is a strategic goal of the school to bring more ethnic diversity in the coming years so that it represents the composition of the community. The school provides over $500,000 in scholarships and discounts each year and reaches a broad range of students geographically, socially, academically, economically, spiritually, and experientially. Regardless of background or differences, all students are loved and welcomed into the school community, which is like a second family. While academics and achievement are stressed, everyone knows they have a special, innate value, purpose, and mission in life that makes them unique and worthy of love.

School History

In 1979, Chinese Christian Schools opened under the auspices of Bay Area Chinese Bible Church with 13 elementary students in Oakland’s Fruitvale District. The “campus” was two rented apartments “equipped” with desks and chairs salvaged from the Oakland public schools. The goal of the school was to make excellent education accessible to a population of underserved immigrant families whose children were subjected to bullying and subpar instruction. Even in the midst of humble beginnings, the school had a vision of impacting the world by raising up the next generation of transformational leaders.

The young, dedicated, and idealistic staff were graduates from the top local universities who bypassed or gave up promising and lucrative careers to instead invest in the lives of the growing student body. Word of the school’s unique combination of superior academics, high standards of conduct, and a loving and supportive family environment soon spread and by 1985 the student body grew to over 300 in grades K-12. The school rented a former elementary school in San Leandro and continued to grow until it eventually purchased a permanent campus in Alameda in 2003.

The now established school had developed a strong academic record that includes 100% of its graduates going to college (99.8%) or military service (0.2%). In 2003 and 2016, the U.S. Department of Education awarded the school the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, the highest recognition in the nation. California Crosspoint Academy is now ranked among the very top in the nation according to the Washington Post’s List of America’s Most Challenging High Schools, Niche (independent rating agency), and Newsweek’s List of America’s Top STEM schools.

The reputation of the school and its amazing accomplishments spread overseas and starting around 2005, it has attracted many international students from Asia. Starting in 2012, the school started receiving offers to partner with schools in China and fulfill the original vision of having a global impact through education. In 2013, the high school and executive leadership of the school became the independent California Crosspoint Academy (CCA), allowing it to be more nimble in working with international students and overseas.

In 2016, CCA purchased the Hayward Campus and has since grown 80% while expanding into preschool, elementary, and middle school grades. The school has five partner programs in China where students receive instruction in English following CCA’s course of study with the goal of attending their senior year at CCA before going on to an American college. Although California Crosspoint Academy is internationally renowned, the school community remembers its roots and follows its primary goal of making excellent education accessible to all. The school is purposefully reaching out to non-Asian families in the community and provides over $500,000 in needs-based tuition assistance each year.

The addition of the Education & Life Building and Event Center will permit the school to serve preschool through 12th grades with campus living, athletic, and performing arts facilities all in one location. The CCA campus would truly become an international living and learning center, transforming the global leaders of tomorrow.
