Hinkson Christian Academy
School Overview
We are an ACSI accredited, Christian school serving the missions and expat community in Moscow. It was established in 1991 to primarily serve the missionary community by providing quality education for the children of Christian missionaries and other Christians working in Moscow. Today HCA continues to offer excellent Christian education to students who represent many cultures, coming from mission, business, and diplomatic backgrounds.
Purpose Statement
Hinkson Christian Academy exists to assist families by educating and training their children in a Christian environment thereby enabling them to develop spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially in order to serve God and man with excellence and integrity.
School History
In the fall of 1991 New Life Christian School in Moscow, Russia, began as a Christian school designed to meet the educational needs of local Campus Crusade for Christ missionary families. It began with nineteen children and three teachers in a classroom rented from a Russian school. An independent study program was largely used because of the diversity of grade levels (grades 1-9).
The 1994-1995 school year saw our first graduating class. We were granted official registration from the Russian government by the end of the school year. In the 1995-1996 academic year we continued to grow and began renting space from two different Russian schools. The challenge of operating from two different locations was great, but God was faithful.
As we continued to grow, we knew that it would be important to find our own building. After months of prayer and preparation, God abundantly blessed capital fund raising efforts and we began the process of purchasing our new facility. The summer of 2000 saw the “big move” – only 3 weeks before school began – but with united effort we began on time.
With the larger facility we have been able to add new programs – ESL, Resource Education and a limited Korean education program for our Korean students. Enrollment grew to a high of over 200 students per year and over 60 full and part-time staff.
In the spring of 2007 HCA completed a two year process and was accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International.
Today, we continue to face challenges, but also are given constant reminders of God's faithfulness. We currently serve about 160 students from many different countries and continue to provide a strong Christian worldview for the next generation of leaders.
Benefits
As a Christian international school, our teachers are regarded as missionaries and must raise their own support. However, we are able to pay a stipend to help with the cost of living expenses. Please contact us for specific details.
