School Profile

International Christian School of Budapest

School Overview

The International Christian School of Budapest (ICSB) exists to serve families by providing their children with an excellent, biblically-based, college-preparatory education, in an environment that encourages them to become wholehearted followers of Christ.

We are a "mission school," in that we do not pay salaries to our teachers -- all of our teachers are in Budapest as missionaries and have had to raise their own financial support through churches and individuals, etc. While God does always provide for each of our needs, it can sometimes be a difficult process to go from a salaried position to having to continually raise your own financial support year after year.

Also, as a Christian school, we are very strongly committed to hiring only faculty members who have a strong Christian faith and a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ. An important part of the application to teach at ICSB is the articulation of your conversion to Christianity and your ongoing life of faith in Christ. We desire to hire teachers who will teach their subjects from a Biblical worldview and who will live as models of mature Christianity before our students.

School History

In 1992, several Christian mission organizations saw the need for a school in Central Europe to serve missionary families in the region. On September 19, 1994, ICSB opened its doors for the first time, with 56 students in grades 1 through 12, and 21 faculty and staff members. In the spring of 1997, our first full class of seniors graduated from ICSB and began attending colleges in North America.

In 1998, ICSB received full accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA), which it still maintains.

Over the past decade, ICSB has grown to over approximately 200 students in grades Pre 1-12, with over 50 faculty and staff members. We now own our 4-story building and the surrounding property, and our facilities include a gymnasium, science labs, a library, and two modern computer labs.

Benefits

ICSB offers tuition discounts for faculty and staff members' children who attend ICSB. We also offer several incentives/assistances in order to encourage and enable faculty & staff members to come to ICSB, and to stay for longer terms of service:
For full-time, non-paid (i.e., “missionary") faculty and/or staff members who have been at ICSB for two years, or who commit to serve at ICSB for a minimum of two years:

$200 per month for use in paying off previously-held school loans. This is available each year the teacher is at ICSB, until the loans are paid off and scholarships for those pursuing graduate-level study.
