Isaac Newton Christian Academy
School Overview
To equip students with a biblical worldview, Isaac Newton Christian Academy provides a culture where teachers and the administration encourage and equip their students to perform at their highest potential, spiritually and academically, for the glory of God. The school strives to develop life-long learners through an education program that demonstrates excellence in scholarship, critical thinking, creativity, learning, and service. This is done through methods that are consistent with the mission of the school. Isaac Newton Christian Academy students are engaged in the learning process and are provided with many opportunities to excel. Throughout this process, the faculty teaches and models to students how to apply to life the knowledge they are gaining, and to make choices in alignment with a biblical worldview.
School History
In 1987, a group of concerned parents and business people began to recognize the need for a non-denominational, evangelical Christian school in the Cedar Rapids area. As a result of the vision of these people, meetings were held to ascertain the broader interest for this type of school in the community. These meetings enjoyed the support of many local pastors and families. A steering committee elected officers in 1988. The newly formed Linn Christian Education Association purchased the Adams Elementary School building from the Cedar Rapids Community School Board on June 9, 1989. The school building was built in 1961 and contained 27,200 sq. ft. of space. Isaac Newton Christian Academy officially opened its doors on August 28, 1989, the first day of school. That first year, the school offered classes in Kindergarten through 6th grade. The following year, the school was expanded to 8th grade. After a building expansion project in 2000, the academic building took on its current size and shape. In the Spring of 2015, the Activity Center was added to our campus. This building is the home of our physical education and interscholastic athletic programs and will be the future home of our fine arts performances. In the Summer of 2015, a high school exploration committee was formed after the school received a large number of requests to expand to a high school program. In November, 2015, the Board of Directors voted to expand the school's programming to include a high school beginning with the 2016-2017 school year. The school will expand by one grade each subsequent year. Throughout the growth of the school, the commitment to the mission of the school has not changed. We desire to do our very best to provide Christlike character development and academic excellence for our students.
