School Profile

Mountainview Christian School

School Overview

Mountainview offers an American curriculum in the English language and consists of classes from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school began in one rented house with no official boarding facility. There were seventeen students and three teachers. Through the years the facilities have expanded to include land on which has been built an elementary school, a secondary school (each with a library and computer lab), a soccer field and track, an auditorium, two large gymnasiums, locker rooms, 8-lane swimming pool, pavilion spaces, 2 playgrounds, maintenance facilities and 2 dormitories. In June 2019, Mountainview moved administrative offices, including the Business office, Documentation Office, Security, and Superintendent Office to the new Welcome & Administrative Center.

In the past five years, our student population has been fairly stable at nearly full capacity with a total of 235 students. Our students are from South Korea (38%), United States, (25%) Indonesia (25%), and India, Europe, and South America. Our faculty includes twenty six teachers primarily from the United States. Our support staff includes sixty-eight Indonesian employees. The school board is composed of individuals from multiple sending agencies and supports the function and growth of the school through the Carver Governance model (https://www.carvergovernance.com/). God has surely blessed through all the years of growth. A Christian teaching staff helps students grow spiritually, academically, socially, and physically. Hundreds of families are benefited by the school’s presence.

School History

The Yayasan Sekolah Internasional Koinonia was given permission by the Indonesian government to form an international school, the Central Java Inter-Mission School (CJIMS), and begin classes in September of 1981. CJIMS was founded by two Christian Service groups: Bethany Fellowship and Christian Church in Indonesia. These two groups form the basis of the foundation. The School Board has now added several other sending agencies to its membership. In 2001, the name of the school was officially changed to Mountainview Christian School and modified again in 2015 due to Indonesia regulations to be Mountainview Christian School (usually referred to as “Mountainview” or “MCS”).
