School Profile

Nicaragua Christian Academy International

School Overview

Nicaragua Christian Academy International is a Christian school located just outside Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua. We hold high a commitment to serving God by providing His children with an education firmly rooted in God's truth and in academic excellence. NCA International is fully accredited in the United States with Cognia (AdvancED) and ACSI. For more information, visit our Accreditation Page.

Nicaragua Christian Academy partners with Christian parents in developing spiritual, social, physical and academic excellence in students so that they can be active disciples of Jesus Christ.

The primary and intentional ministry of NCA International is to provide a Christian education for the children of expatriate evangelical missionary families. To the extent that it is consistent with the primary ministry, our secondary ministry is to equip Nicaraguans for future positions of leadership to impact their country and the nations for Christ. The program of study follows the North American school calendar year and provides an accredited North American liberal arts English-language education that prepares students to enter institutions of higher learning worldwide.

Nicaragua Christian Academy (NCA) schools are evangelical, interdenominational, non-profit preschool, elementary, and secondary educational institutions.

School History

Nicaragua Christian Academy began as the result of three evangelical missionary families seeking an English-language Christian education for their own children. The school began as a cooperative homeschool program in 1991 with two teachers and seven students meeting in a house. In 1995, NCA purchased its own land and began the construction of a school through the labor and donations of hundreds of volunteers and school supporters. In 2001, NCA International became the first ACSI-accredited school in Central America. In 2009, NCA International added a second accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS) and its parent organization, AdvancED. Today, the school has reached a size of about 320 students and 33 teachers.

In 2005, the newly formed association opened its second school, NCA Nejapa, which offers Christian education of academic excellence in the Spanish language. In order to distinguish the first NCA school from NCA Nejapa, it became known as NCA International. In 2013, NCA Matagalpa opened its doors as the third NCA school. Between the three schools, we are currently meeting the educational needs of over 900 students. For a more detailed history of the whole NCA association, visit our NCA Association History page.
