School Overview
Founded in 1951 on the North Shore of Boston, Massachusetts, North Shore Christian School (NSCS) has grown to three campuses now located in Beverly, Hamilton, and Lynn. What began as our founders’ dream of a neighborhood Christian school accessible to all has grown to over 240 students in Preschool through Grade 8 who represent a vibrant community of diverse races, ethnicities, and denominations. NSCS’s vision is that of a tree branching out with roots securely planted in God’s truth (“…like a tree
firmly planted”––Psalm 1:3).
Each campus at NSCS is distinct, but is nourished by the same core values and mission. Recognizing that each child is created uniquely in God’s image, NSCS balances an appreciation of differences while ensuring that each child achieves mastery and proficiency in academic pursuits. Our three campuses offer daily opportunities for students to grow, discover, and be challenged to think critically and independently—while developing social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The practice of instructing from a Christian worldview recognizes that excellence in both our spiritual endeavors and academic pursuits goes hand-in-hand. Biblical instruction and godly behavior are integrated into learning, recognizing that all truth is God’s truth. Students engage and wrestle with tough topics, able to articulate their faith with confidence. Our students graduate well-equipped to positively impact their educational opportunities, communities, and world.
School History
Founded in 1951 by Charles & Ruth Schauffele as a one-room school over Pythian Hall in Saugus, North Shore Church School has grown to two campuses in Beverly and Lynn. The Schauffeles, and other early founders, envisioned a quality neighborhood school where Christian values would be the lens through which all learning was viewed.
What started with only 12 students, today has grown to over 240 students in grades Preschool through 8 who represent a vibrant community of diverse races, ethnicities, and denominations. The Lynn campus now sits on a 3.7 acre hilltop in a well-established neighborhood just outside Wyoma Square in Lynn. The school’s vision is that of a tree branching out with roots securely planted in God’s truth.
In 2010, North Shore Christian School merged with Beacon Christian Academy in Beverly. With both schools’ shared focus and devotion to Christ-centered education, the merger produced one school with combined resources to serve new North Shore communities. Each campus is unique, but is nourished by the same core values and mission.
In 2018 North Shore Christian School opened a third campus on the Hamilton, MA campus of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. This Early Childhood Campus offers a Preschool and Pre-K education.
North Shore Christian School continues to expand its programming to include a collaborative partnership with home-school families to provide flexible learning opportunities across all subject areas.
