School History

Rincon Valley Christian School (RVCS) is located in the city of Santa Rosa in beautiful Northern California. The Pacific Ocean is located twenty miles to the west, to the north the towering redwoods, to the east Napa Valley and to the south the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. Santa Rosa’s population is approximately 170,000 people. It includes a great many attractions, recreational opportunities, museums, theaters and other cultural and educational opportunities for the school’s faculty, students and families.

In 1970, under the visionary leadership of Pastor Robert A. Graves, RVCS began as a Christian junior high school as a ministry of Santa Rosa Bible Church (SRBC). He and the leaders of the church had a vision to provide an educational option for Christian families that has as its foundation the Word of God. Within two years an elementary school was added and then a high school. In 1995, a Private Satellite Program (PSP) was also added as an option for parents to educate their children through home study. RVCS also added a Pre-Kindergarten program to meet the needs of families desiring a structured program for younger children. RVCS is a charter member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

In 1982 SRBC secured a beautiful piece of property in the northeast Rincon Valley area of Santa Rosa. This property consists of 18 acres of prime real estate and its facilities include the classroom space for all grades plus a beautiful gymnasium and ball fields, two computer labs, science labs, a music room, library, playgrounds, and office space. The campus is actively used for church and school ministries and programs.

Since 2000, the RVCS campus program (kindergarten through twelfth grade) has been accredited by ACSI and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Extracurricular honors and activities include a state athletic championship, championship recognition for the marching band, concert band and choral program, as well as recognition in the community for its high standards.
