School History
Stillwater Christian School opened its doors on August 28, 1980 with an enrollment of 57 students in kindergarten through sixth grades. Stillwater Christian exists to equip students with the tools for learning through a Christ-centered, academically enriching, education where each discipline is subject to the authority of God’s Word.
Founded as Flathead Valley Christian School, the name was changed to Stillwater Christian School on July 1, 2004 to provide a more distinct identity and the original Colt mascot was changed to Cougars. The first classes in 1980 were held in the Evergreen Christian & Missionary Alliance church gymnasium building where eight teachers shared the task of beginning what would become one of the largest Christian schools in the state. As growth continued, students were split between three locations. Kindergarten through fourth grade were in the Demarsville school, grades five and six at Central Bible Church and seventh through twelfth at the original Evergreen site.
God blessed the vision of the school’s founders and SCS was offering a full high school program by the 1986-1987 school year and saw its first three seniors graduate in 1987.
God’s faithfulness was manifest again in 1992 when seemingly impossible obstacles were overcome to purchase the former County Nursing Home. Last minute funding and permit deadlines were met, paving the way for the school to open its current campus for the 1992 – 1993 school year. New high school classrooms and a gymnasium were added in 1996 and further expansion of four classrooms was completed in 1999.
