School Profile

Summit Christian Academy

School Overview

Background and Opportunity

Summit Christian Academy is a private elementary school located in the beautiful lake community of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, about 30 miles from Spokane, WA. Summit was founded in 1996 as a ministry of the Lutheran Church of the Master. It now operates as an independent school of 130 students from 3 years old through grade 5.

Distinctives

Summit Christian Academy is characterized by a caring environment of dedicated and loving staff members. All staff members have confessed faith in Christ and see their work as service to Christ and to the families enrolled in the school. Summit maintains a low staff/student ratio.

A four-day school week, extended care and a strong summer program meet the needs of school families. In addition to a rigorous, bible-based academic program, Summit has highly qualified specialist teachers in drama, art and physical education. Summit’s exceptional drama and public speaking programs are known throughout the community. Summit graduates are routinely accepted into the area’s top charter school.

Summit enjoys a unique school culture; one defined by a nurturing environment, engaged and committed parents and shared core beliefs. A strong Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) enhances school life with community building activities and funding for projects that directly impact the student experience. Recent projects include touch screen TVs in classrooms, a new school bus and permanent basketball hoops.

School Structure

Guided by a set of Bylaws, the Summit Board of Directors is a self-perpetuating Board with only one employee, the head of school. The Board is responsible for ensuring the school's mission is protected, supporting the head of school as he or she carries out the vision of the school and maintaining fiduciary responsibility as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
