OVERVIEW
Full Armor Christian Academy is a private Christian school of 120 students, nestled in small town Henderson, Texas. Teachers report to the headmaster.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES
- Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives that govern the operation of the school.
- Plan broadly through the use of objectives as outlined in the curriculum guides and more currently through the use of weekly lesson plans in RenWeb.
- Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the supervisor.
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his/her best work.
- Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy.
- Employee a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
- Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good learning environment.
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and report cards as required.
- Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies in academies and behavior and give sufficient notice of failure. Also help to strategize plans for improvement.
- Plan through approved channels the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers and other media.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized classroom.
- Perform duty assignments on a monthly basis as assigned. These duties may include but are not limited to greeting duty, after school pickup supervision, break monitoring, etc.
- Serve on school committees as assigned. These committees may include school improvement, accreditation, discipline, development, planning, etc.
- Administer placement tests to prospective students as needed.
- Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Follow the Matthew 18 Principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration as outlined in the Faculty/Staff handbook.
- Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.
- Be willing to pursue professional growth opportunities and maintain accreditation certification.
- Perform any other duties, which may be assign3ed by the administration.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Spiritual:
- Be a professed born-again Christian and active church member with practices that agree with the Statement of Faith of Full Armor.
- Have the ability to develop positive working relationships through modeling the qualities of a servant leader.
- Serve as a role model and spiritual mentor to faculty, staff, and student, consistent with the manner in which he/she acts, speaks, and serves.
- Be a student of the Bible’s teachings, thoroughly prepared to teach others.
- Show an interest in the total development of each student.
- Follow the Matthew 18 Principle in conflict resolution.
Professional:
- Holds a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized college or university. This requirement may be relaxed by the School Board if a teacher is actively pursuing a degree and it meets with the agreement of the accrediting body. Appropriate progress toward a degree is to be determined by the administration utilizing information from ACSI accrediting standards.
- Will currently hold (or be willing to pursue) ACSI certification.
- Will have had (or be willing to pursue) courses specifically prescribed by the Administrator in the area of Christian education and philosophy if necessary.
- Must be in agreement with terms of the contract and the faculty handbook. This agreement will be shown by the level of consistency in obeying and maintaining school policies and procedures.
- Will give evidence of good moral character.
- The board reserves the right to require a medical examination if it deems this to be in the best interest of the employee, children, or the staff. Therefore, employees will give evidence of adequate physical and mental condition.
