TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Current Positions Open: 2nd grade
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The teacher will prayerfully help students learn subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. He/She will provide instruction in the classroom, communicate with parents, develop and maintain interpersonal relationships and professional growth. He/She will minister to Centralia Christian students and their families and keep the highest regard for personal spiritual growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
The teacher shall be one who has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and who believes in Centralia Christian School's Statement of Faith. The teacher shall be a member in good standing of a church that supports and teaches doctrine in keeping with Centralia Christian School's Statement of Faith. He/She shall be a person of spiritual maturity with academic and leadership abilities that will allow him/her to "train up a child in the way he should go." The teacher shall reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity.
The teacher shall be academically prepared, appropriately certified, and one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. Other qualifications may be added by the board as deemed appropriate to the position.

Students, student teachers, aides, and volunteers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
I. Classroom Instruction
A. Teaching Skills
Teaching reflects a Christ centered lifestyle.
Maintains an organized, attractive environment.
Displays competency in subject matter.
Uses a variety of methods and activities.
Has clear long and short-term goals which align with scope and sequence. Lessons plans are current and specific.
Prepares adequately for a substitute teacher.
Communicates regularly with principal and colleagues.
Monitors individual/group progress with accurate record keeping for grades and attendance.
Gives timely student evaluations via notes, graded work, report cards and conferences.
Addresses individual learning needs with available resources.
Seeks to use volunteer assistance as needed.
Plans and leads class trips.
B. Discipline
Establishes well-defined, clearly taught class rules.
Is poised and confident about authority role.
Practices consistent follow-through.
Seeks to model desirable behavior at all times.
Upholds discipline policy of CCS.
Corrects inappropriate behavior from a positive perspective.
Speaks positively and respectively about/to students.
Seeks to make correction timely and relevant.
Seeks good communication with student, parent, principal.
II. Communication with Parents
A. Initiates and nurtures open communication.
B. Speaks realistically about student progress.
C. Looks for ways to cooperate with the family for student development. D. Uses proper grammar in written/oral communications.
III. Maintains Interpersonal Relationships
A. Is loyal to CCS.
B. Recognizes CCS as an extension of family and church training grounds.
C. Recognizes the role of parents as the ones primarily responsible before God for the education of their child while CCS assists them in that role.
D. Promotes and protects staff unity by encouragement and speaking well of all fellow employees.
E. Practices the Matthew 18 principle when resolving offenses/conflicts.
F. Willingly assumes shared responsibilities beyond the classroom including all school activities such as Christmas programs, Spiritual Fitness Day, Annual Auction, and graduation.
G. Keeps communication lines open at all times with everyone
H. Is able to keep information in confidence.
IV. Professional Goals
A. Has a Washington State teaching certificate or ACSI certification. (required)
B. Seeks to continually improve expertise in teaching.
C. Considered a life-long learner in areas other than teaching profession. D. Maintains a teachable spirit.
E. Supports and participates in committees as needed.
F. Supervises extra-curricular activities as agreed upon.
G. Knows emergency procedures for fire, earthquake and lockdown drills.
H. Contributes to general improvement of CCS overall program.

C. Motivates (and gives opportunity) for students to accept Christ and grow in their relationship with Him.

F. Prays regularly for CCS, students, parents, and families.
G. Respectful of and loyal to authority using Biblical principles of appeal in areas of conflict.
H. Represents Christ and CCS in a favorable manner on or off campus.
