Mountain Christian School, located in the beautiful White Mountains of northern Arizona, seeks a qualified 1st grade teacher. MCS is a K-8 school in its 21st year with about 160 students and a tight-knit staff team of 24. We promote small class sizes, intentional parent partnership, a rigorous curriculum, integrated Biblical worldview training, and high student expectations. We enjoy a four-day school week and a supportive school community.
We are seeking a well-rounded passionate teacher who is able to teach all subjects to a 3rd grade class including phonics, math, writing, social studies, science, and Bible.

Requirements
- Plan and present daily lessons to facilitate student understanding and application of curriculum and academic concepts.
- Adapt lessons and curriculum to accommodate students of different academic and learning needs.
- Prepare and distribute learning materials such as notes, assignments, supplemental practice, and assessments.
- Maintain a safe classroom that is conducive to student learning.
- Work collaboratively with the school administration to enforce rules of behavior, class participation, and conduct for students.
- Grade assignments and assessments in a timely manner
- Work with students individually if they need extra help and support in their coursework.
- Document and report student progress
- Attend meetings with parents and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Google Suite tools (e.g. GoogleDrive, GoogleClassroom, etc.)
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- A fundamental understanding of phonics and teaching students to read.
- Precise verbal and written instruction abilities
- Patience and emotional management skills for dealing with students of assorted ages and abilities
