Description
Goal: Prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that contributes to their development as mature, able, responsible Christians to the glory of God.
Overview: The teacher shall be a born-again college graduate, ACSI-certified (or willing to obtain certification) who feels called of God to the teaching profession. The teacher will be hired by the Board upon recommendation of the Director for a period of 1 year. The teacher will be responsible to the Director and shall provide supervision to student-teachers, aids, or volunteers, as needed. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy
Key Responsibility Areas
The teacher shall:
Integrate biblical principles and the Christian education philosophy throughout all curricula and activities.
Cooperate with administration in implementing policies and procedures governing the school.
Keep proper discipline and order in the classroom and on school premises.
Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, media, environments, speakers, and/or materials to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
Participate in scheduled professional development, committee, team/faculty meetings.
Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepare adequate materials for a substitute teacher when necessary.
Requirements
Personal Qualities
The teacher shall:
Follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and that it is the standard for faith and daily living.
Be a member and regular attendee at a local evangelical church whose Statement of Faith aligns with the school’s Statement of Faith.
Support the school’s Statement of Faith, philosophy of education, and code of conduct.
Professional Qualities
The teacher shall:
Recognize parents as being chiefly responsible before God for their children’s education.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, and punctuality.
Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
Model Christlike personal appearance: clean; modest; in agreement with school policy.
