Description
JOB SUMMARY
Serves as an accountant of the College and ensures compliance with all applicable college, state and federal regulations and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This requires, at minimum:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a concentration in accounting or business administration [master’s preferred]
- Three to Five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the business office functional area at a college or university.
- Experience in organizing, conceptualizing, and prioritizing objectives and managing a high volume workflow office
- Proficiency with use of EXCEL, word processing, database, and presentation software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, including governmental accounting,Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and internal controls for the safeguard of assets.
- Administrative, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- High level of energy and good sense of humor with the capacity for extraordinary time andeffort demands
- Willingness to work collaboratively, engaging both the granular details of administrative minutiaas well as the global needs of the departm
Requirements
TASKS
- Monitoring of revenue, expenditures, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger,
- and financial aid accounting functions.
- Maintains an orderly accounting filing system, accounting policies and procedures, chart of
- accounts, and a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Ensures the accurate and timely processing of all accounting transactions and accounting
- related processes, including accounts receivable and payroll.
- Ensures that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
- Ensures that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Ensures that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Help with the monthly financial and statistical statements and reports relating to state and
- federal compliance and accreditation.
- Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding
- students, supervisors and other employees.
- Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform Account Reconciliations, Journal Entries, and process credit card and ach payments.
Prepare Quarterly investment fund recording. - Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents (3-way match)
- Verify invoice accuracy, coding, and proper approvals
- Enter invoices into the accounting system following company policies
- Prepare and process payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers)
- Ensure payments are made according to agreed terms to avoid late fees
- Coordinates business office operations.
- Produces appropriate reports to coordinate and communicate the College’s financial
- performance and development of the annual comprehensive financial audit report.
- Maintain, check, and reconcile restricted accounts per federal compliance and auditor reports.
