- Elementary Substitute Teacher
Description
The Elementary Substitute Teacher provides temporary instructional support in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and Christ-centered classroom environment while implementing lesson plans, supervising students, and supporting the school's mission and educational standards.
The Substitute Teacher serves as a positive Christian role model and helps ensure continuity of instruction and classroom routines during teacher absences
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction
Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
Deliver instruction using the school's approved curriculum and classroom resources.
Adapt instruction as needed to maintain student engagement while remaining consistent with the teacher's plans.
Utilize classroom technology and instructional materials appropriately.
Maintain continuity of classroom routines and expectations.
Classroom Management & Student Supervision
Maintain a safe, organized, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment.
Implement the school's classroom management expectations and behavior policies.
Supervise students throughout the school day, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, chapel, field trips, and other assigned duties.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Report significant disciplinary concerns or safety issues to school administration promptly.
Instructional Support
Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
Provide appropriate assistance to students while maintaining established classroom expectations.
Monitor student work and provide feedback as appropriate.
Leave a written summary for the classroom teacher regarding completed lessons, student progress, behavior concerns, and any significant events during the day.
Professional Responsibilities
Arrive on time and prepared for each assignment.
Follow all school policies, procedures, emergency protocols, and confidentiality requirements.
Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and adaptability in a variety of classroom settings.
Collaborate respectfully with administrators, faculty, and staff.
Perform reasonable duties assigned by school administration during the school day.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct consistent with the mission and values of Broward Christian Academy.
Christian Leadership
Demonstrate a Christ-centered lifestyle consistent with the school's Statement of Faith and mission.
Model biblical character, integrity, kindness, and respect in all interactions.
Support the integration of Christian values throughout the school day.
Pray with students when appropriate and support the school's spiritual emphasis.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, church, or youth setting.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom procedures.
Commitment to the mission, vision, and Christian values of Broward Christian Academy.
Eligible to work in the United States.
