English Language & Literature Teacher
Weihai Zhongshi Foreign School (WZFS)
WZFS is seeking an experienced and dedicated English Teacher to join our Middle and High School faculty. Because the English curriculum forms the foundation of all academic success at our school, we are looking for a linguistically precise and pedagogically skilled educator to lead this department.
Role Overview
As an English Teacher at WZFS, you will be responsible for developing the core competencies of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Our students are predominantly English Language Learners (ELL), requiring a teacher who can blend rigorous academic standards with the supportive scaffolding necessary for language acquisition. To ensure every student receives the support they need, our English classes are typically kept smaller than other subjects, allowing for personalized instruction and close mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Foundational Instruction:
Teach comprehensive English skills across Middle and High School, with a heavy emphasis on a firm grasp of English grammar and structured writing.
Curriculum Delivery:
Follow the UK curriculum to prepare students for academic success, including the delivery of IGCSE English courses.
Progress Tracking:
Manage detailed student portfolios and conduct regular 1-to-1 sessions to accurately monitor individual progress and provide targeted feedback.
ELL Pedagogy:
Implement modern, evidence-based teaching methods specifically designed for ELL students to bridge the gap between their current proficiency and academic requirements.
Departmental Contribution:
Collaborate with other subject teachers to ensure English language support is integrated across the broader school curriculum.
Requirements
Job Requirements
Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Literature, Education, or a closely related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience is required for work visa eligibility. Experience with the IGCSE curriculum is preferred.
Linguistic Mastery:
A profound understanding of English grammar and a high level of proficiency in all four domains of language (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
ELL Certification:
Formal training in ELL pedagogy (e.g., CELTA, TESOL, or DELTA) is essential to meet the needs of our student demographic.
Personal Attribute:
A patient and adaptable approach, with a commitment to the mission-driven goals of an international school.
Why Join WZFS?
At WZFS, we recognize that English is the gateway to all other disciplines. You will have the autonomy to work with small class sizes and the resources to provide deep, individualized attention to students who are eager to learn. You will be joining a supportive, dual-accredited (WASC and ACSI) environment that values professional growth and student achievement.
