Private Christian School Teacher Position Summary
The Traditional 6th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing a Christ-centered learning environment that fosters students’ academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical development. The teacher instructs students in core academic subjects while integrating biblical truth throughout the curriculum and modeling a life consistent with Christian values.
Reports To the Principal or Head of School
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in all core subject areas, including:
Bible
English Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies - Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance learning.
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and maintain accurate academic records.
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment.
- Implement classroom procedures and behavior expectations consistent with the school’s philosophy and biblical principles.
- Encourage responsibility, self-discipline, and Christian character among students.
Spiritual Leadership
- Integrate biblical principles into daily instruction and classroom interactions.
- Lead students in daily prayer, Bible study, and devotion.
- Model Christ-like attitudes, integrity, compassion, and servant leadership.
- Encourage students in their personal spiritual growth and relationship with Jesus Christ.
Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Collaborate effectively with administrators, faculty, and support staff.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school functions as required.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and school information.
- Continue professional growth through ongoing education and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (teaching certification preferred).
- Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and classroom management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology and classroom management software.
Spiritual Qualifications
- Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Actively participates in a Bible-believing Christian church.
- Agrees with and supports the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian mission.
- Models biblical principles in personal and professional conduct.
- Demonstrates a heart for discipling and mentoring young people.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as well as climb stairs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to supervise students in classrooms, playgrounds, and during school activities.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, exempt position.
- Follows the school calendar and required faculty workdays.
- Attendance at evening or weekend school events may be required periodically.
