A Lakeland Christian School teacher is committed to sharpening minds and shepherding hearts of their students.  This role requires a commitment to academic excellence, a passion for discipleship and student life, with a focus on equipping students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship. 

Qualifications

• Be a born-again believer, maintaining a testimony that is above reproach
• Active in local, evangelical church
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field ie Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Science Education or related field (required
• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Education, or related field (preferred)
• Previous AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental or AP Physics teaching experience strongly preferred
• Valid ACSI and Florida teaching certificate
• Exhibit the gift of teaching and personality that lends to effective instruction in the classroom, and positive relations with colleagues, administrators, and students
• Demonstrate a commitment to Christian education
• Be in agreement with the Lakeland Christian School Statement of Faith and staff qualifications
  

Requirements

Teaching Tasks/Responsibilities Include

• Teach Chemistry and AP Chemistry courses to high school students with enthusiasm and academic rigor
• Use Understanding by Design (UbD) as a curriculum planning framework based on state standards interwoven with Essential Questions and Enduring Understandings that anticipate worldview discussions 
• Pursue laboratory opportunities for deeper student understanding. Create performance tasks within labs that demonstrate transfer of advanced concepts regardless of course level
• Develop and implement engaging, inquirybased lessons that meet AP College Board standards
•  Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview into chemical sciences instruction, exploring themes of order, stewardship, and the intricacy of God’s design
• Utilize innovative teaching strategies that promote critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity
•  Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and help each student reach their full potential
•  Prepare students for AP exam success while fostering genuine scientific literacy and curiosity. 
• Design and oversee laboratory experiences that develop practical scientific skills, chemical safety awareness, and proper handling of materials
