Job Summary
Valley Christian Schools is seeking a full-time High School English AP Teacher for the 2026-27 school
year. The high school teacher will integrate their spiritual walk, academic training, and instructional
skills to deliver content-specific teaching and support student growth, consistent with the VCS mission
statement and Philosophy of Christian Education. A typical teaching assignment includes six
instructional sections and two prep periods within a block schedule. Base Salary ranges from $77,000 to
$108,000 per year, based on degree and years of experience. Additional compensation is given for
obtaining an ACSI teaching credential, a Master's Degree, and a Doctorate's Degree.

Teaching Responsibilities

Planning and Preparation: Adapt curriculum using the scope and sequence and standards provided for
each course, under the direction of the Department Head, as guided by the Campus leadership and
Director of Curriculum.
 1. Content expertise and best pedagogical practices
 2. Plan instruction based on the characteristics of the students being taught
 3. Set rigorous and appropriate learning outcomes and daily lesson plans
 4. Ability to use resources and technology
 5.  Design learning experiences appropriate for a 75-minute block schedule and 1:1 learning
environment
 6. Design effective and appropriate student assessments, including rubrics to measure success
 7. Design Biblical Integration in relation to the subject

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
 1. The teacher leads the room with calm confidence, setting a polite, fair, and encouraging tone.
 2. Establish a culture for learning for all students in the class
 3. Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
 4. Balance technology use with meaningful face-to-face interaction
 5. Organize physical space to support the learning process

Daily instruction
 1. Communicate with students clearly and effectively
 2. Use instructional strategies that elicit thoughtful responses
 3. Engage students in learning
 4. Use varied assessments and provide meaningful feedback
 5. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in the classroom
 6. Deliver Biblical Integration by weaving in personal faith, scriptural references, and gospel truths
into lessons

Professional Responsibilities

 1. Reflect thoughtfully and accurately on teaching
 2. Timely and accurately updates records
     - Update PowerSchool regularly (weekly).
     - Maintain a clear and accurate teacher site in Moodle (learn.vcs.net).
     - Take attendance and mark tardies as appropriate.
 3. Communicate with stakeholders (students, parents, counselors, peer teachers, administration)
     - Proactively communicate clear information.
     - Proactively share relevant information about individual students.
     - Engage stakeholders in support of student learning as appropriate.
     - Contact parents when a student is struggling.
     - Respond to communication within 24 business hours.
 4. Service to the school and support of school leadership
     - Participates in mandatory school events (e.g., Open House, one dance chaperoning, homecoming, and graduation).
     - Fulfill professional responsibilities (e.g., accreditation documentation and supervision duties) with a positive and professional attitude.
     - Support students by:
          - Attending student performances and competitions.
          - Providing extra help and tutoring as needed.
          - Participating in school spirit (e.g., spirit week participation, spirit week supervision, Spirit Points).
          - Writing up to 15 college or internship recommendation letters at high quality, aligning to the counseling team’s standards.
 5. Growing and developing professionally
     - Actively with colleagues in professional conversations about practice.
     - Look for ways to contribute to the ministry and profession.
 6. Show Christ-like professionalism
     - Demonstrate integrity and ethical Christian conduct
     - Maintain a positive attitude conveyed in word and deed
     - Collaborate with colleagues and share workload equitably
     - Demonstrate logical thinking and practical decision-making
     - Attendance (e.g., faculty devotions, in-service days, etc.)
     - Punctuality (e.g., twice a week supervision, chaperoning)
          - On campus 7:30 am – 3:00 pm each day
     - Comply with school regulations and procedures.
     - Uses Matthew 18 as a model to handle personal conflict

 - Have proven evidence of adequate preparation, background, and ability required by the position.
 - Be committed to implementing and enforcing policies and following prescribed procedures.
 - Have the skill to make and effectively communicate timely decisions.
 - Have the ability to foster creativity and be responsible for creative ideas.

Professional Qualifications
 - Teaching Experience
 - Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in a 1:1 learning environment (iPad-based), including use of core instructional and learning-management tools.
 - Commitment to whole-person formation—mental, spiritual, physical, and academic—and to instructional practices that meet students where they are and help them grow toward their God-given potential.
 - Maintain a current ACSI teaching certificate (or obtain within timeframe).
 - Maintain any required state teaching credential(s), as applicable to assignment.
 - Master’s degree in the subject area (or subject area that aligns with content)
 - Serve as a Christ-centered role model: a mature believer whose life and teaching reflect a commitment to Christian discipleship and the mission of Christian education.
 - Active participation in a local Christian church.
 - Affirm and support the VCS Statement of Faith; demonstrate a consistent practice of prayer and ongoing spiritual growth (1 Tim. 2:1–8; 1 Tim. 3:1–13; 1 Thess. 5:11–28; Rom. 12:14–21; Gal.
6:1–10).

Christian Role Model Commitment
 - Express a testimony of a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
 - Serve as a Christian role model and a consecrated Christian, dedicated to the purpose and goals of the Christian school.
 - Have an understanding of the philosophy and objectives of Valley Christian Schools.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Teachers share TORT liability coverage and will be assigned an area on campus for before- or after-school
supervision of students.

Physical Demands
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment—no heavy lifting

Working Conditions
Working Conditions and Environment: travel, usual work hours, environmental conditions
 - Assigned a classroom in which to conduct class. In most cases, a teacher travels between classrooms.
 - Has access to a teachers’ lounge in which to prepare for class, copy materials needed for class, grade
student work, and eat lunch.
